I can't say that I'm a huge fan of either build. On the first, I don't like the LBX -- I'd drop a heatsink to upgrade the LBX to an AC10, and then move 1t of gauss ammo to the left torso (to help shield the rifle itself) and the ton of AC ammo from the center torso to a leg. You have plenty of heat sinks to handle losing one. This might leave you with something like this:
#1 Improved
On the second, be aware that ghost heat will burn you alive if you're not careful. Personally, I'd run something like this:
#2 Improved
Note the ER lasers in the shoulder mounts for use when coming over a hill. The mediums are there to help against fast circling lights. A bit of extra speed helps you get out of bad situations a bit better.
I'm still not a huge fan of either build (I like my Cataphracts with standard engines most of the time), but if they work for you, go for it.

Try the following if you are intrested in close range combat: CTF-3D: Brawler
71kph with speed tweak, 4 jumpjets lets you climb over many obstacles and shoot the AC20 over buildings etc. Heat is not an issue really if you are careful with the ML's. Standard engine lets you live alot longer.
Never mix Gauss and AC10's, never put a Gauss in a torso slot with an XL engine. If you want long range capabilities then 2x PPC's + 1x AC10 is a great way to start but you have to use an XL engine so you are kinda fragile.
