Remind me, LoPan, how many kills did you get in the urban spider?

Best I ever did was 1 per match. Almost got 2 when I jumped on top of that Stalker and started shooting it in the cockpit, but I think a Victor shot me off of him.

That's right, all. The Urbanmech announcement may have been a cruel, cruel April Fools' Day prank by PGI (ha ha, good one guys...I think I'll go cut myself now :) ), but here at the 201st, we have found a marginally acceptable alternative to a true Urbie. Come on by, and well show you our amazing UrbanSpider build! We may or may not have run a 12 man with them, too...I was too drunk at the time to remember if we took it that far.

I don't always ragequit, but when I do it's because my Locust got cockpitted by a Jagerbomb.

Jokes aside, I rather frown upon that kind of behaviour. We don't have many rules, but "don't be a jerk" is one of them. Taunts at the start of a match smacks of douchebaggery to me.

In that thing, does it really matter if they shoot you in the face or any of the torso locations? It's made out of paper and has an XL engine...any location should be a one-shot kill for dual AC/20s. ;)

You say that, but there's something especially scary about getting hit in the cockpit when you're in a light 'Mech (assuming you survive, of course). You're then left with the dilemma: Is that guy really good, really lucky or just a hacker? None of those are something you want to be facing with paper armour...

I agree, but the part you hid in parentheses was kind of my point. ^_^ He said Jagerbomb. Even with max armor, I don't think there's a location on the Locust that can take 40 points of damage and not fall off...of course, that could be because I'm looking at it through my grizzled veteran tabletop BattleTech player eyes...

In the table-top game you'd at least be safe as long as you were more than 270m away. With MWO damage fall-off, a locust would have to be at least 380m away to survive a CT hit from a Jägerbomb...

Man, I get nervous if I'm hit with -anything- in a Locust. Which is why I do my best to just not get hit. Them's science.

Argueing with science is fine, it's argueing against science that I frown upon :P

Has anybody here ever seen the rules for the Classic BattleTech (tabletop) Drinking Game? I only ask because it's where I was introduced to the phrase "riding with the top down" as it relates to BattleMechs. I'll have to see if I can find a link.

I don't hate it; the blasted thing's hilarious. I do have to question its efficacy, however, now that I've faced off against something similar. Enemy team had a twin AC/2 Firestarter. It was mildly annoying at first, but we ignored it, dealt with the real threats and then had Treb chase it down in a Spider.

I find it hard to imagine that there should only be one set of rules...

LoPan's Urban spider is nothing but a myth used to frighten children in the Lyran Commonwealth....

I feel like it's time to bring him out once more, to inspire fear in the unbelievers.

Back in the late 1990s or early 2000s, when I played lots of CBT on tables all across the country (because I moved a lot, not because I was any good or anything like that), I stumbled across a two page set of rules for DrunkTech: The BattleTech Drinking Game. I went online tonight to see if I could find a link to said rules and, sadly, every forum post or other link that I found transported me to a dead end. But I was lucky because, in the deepest, darkest recesses of my computers thousands of gigabytes of hard drive space sat a lonely little word document. Inside that electronic file rested these rules. And I will share them here for all to enjoy, in the form of a PDF that I created this night and loaded onto Google's Drive.

https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing

I have had these rules for a long time and have NO idea who originally penned them; though based on the evidence contained herein, I suspect he was, at one point, called "Stride". Please enjoy if you wish, but remember: 'Mech Responsibly.

And I thought OUR rules for MWO: The Drinking Game were complicated.

Impressive.
