I know you mean the best for MWO and stuff, but please do not praise the game overly much when it's still in its infancy and most fragile. It's one thing to 'predict' how it may work out in the future, but it`s a whole different thing to damn the critics publically. They actually got a point or two and its thanks to them that actual problems get recognized. Granted, not all of it is constructive, but you know how it is. Bad experience, the need to vent etc.
We both know what currently works in MWO and what doesn't and we both have a bit of a perspective i hope. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done and it's not the eye candy I'm talking about, but fundamental, game changing aspects of MWO. Those changes need time and good critics/feedback. Please do not try to silence them like you did in the last casts. This won't help the game to mature at all, quite the opposite.
I got the impression that you felt the game was ready to unleash next month or so. Given your participation in beta and the knowledge that comes with it, there's not terribly much speaking for it, but a whole lot speaking against it. Using the CryEngine3 is a committment to quality and as MWO stands right now, they wouldn't be able to meet the expectations. Neither of those who never played MW, nor those who have committed already (investors, founders etc.).
Please give the game a bit more time to mature and PGI a chance to deliver a worthy reboot. Given the short development time, nobody would expect miracles. My impression is that it takes at the very least another year to get the old and new kinks worked out and a basic functionality so that PGI can deliver a game that doesn't do the franchise injustice. Releasing it now or next month would be plain suicide. I'm pretty sure that this is not what you want, but voicing your concerns about the critics amounts to the same in the end. Good intentions and all that.
No hard feelings though. Still a loyal listener =)

I can vividly remember what an early release of WoT did to the game and the attitude of the WG dev team. They got lazy with all the praise and real dev progress almost came to a halt. MWO is shaping up to follow suit, minus the already established paying customer base in Russia for over a year before the worldwide release. Who's gonna pay the bills when the release doesn't meet the expectations? There is no loyal customer base numbering in the milions to draw on. Not my personal opinion, just an observation.
Funny thing is that today I remembered to compare MWO with MW5 as seen in the first trailer (Hammer vs Atlas) made by PGI. And you know what? I'm still not convinced that MWO has reached the target look of MW5 based on the Unreal Engine as seen there. Not in terms of buildings, fidelity, special effects or sound. That is my personal opinion and you could ask around just for the heck of it how other people feel about it. Should make for interesting conversation, comparing both engines and the results after all that time.
Cheers =)

Here's what I`'m talking about.
MW3015 (Unreal Engine)
vs
MWO (CryEngine)
Tbh, it's not even a contest if you factor in the destructible environment of the first trailer.

And I do believe they have stated that destructible environment/buildings etc, will come into play when they get that feature in the game. Which is gonna be awesome!

Yeah I've had doubts as well about it being live footage. Actually I was pretty much convinced that it was pre-rendered given the jaw-dropping quality at the time. Much later down the road I read and learned that it was actual game footage, exactly what the engine was/is capable of and I was simply blown away. Words simply failed me because back then only the CryEngine seemed capable of stunning visuals like this. Turns out I was totally wrong.
In hindsight however, I still wonder how much more developed MWO could be if they simply stuck with the Unreal Engine and kept going. We could have had destructible terrain and easily as much eye candy as we see now. I've got no idea what prompted PGI to switch the engine all of a sudden, given the spectacular results and positive feedback from the fans. It doesn't seem to make terribly much sense if you compare the results after all this time.

As for the discussion about CryEngine and looks... well, let's see what happens when they update the engine for the Beta client. Right now, we know we aren't playing with the full set and while I love the game, I do agree that what we've seen of the graphics until now hasn't entirely blown my mind. The engine has a lot of potential though. Still it is exceedingly shame if we're going to miss out on destructible terrain.
