The Jester

Absolutely ludicrous, this mech. Optional setup to this being a single JJ and two tons of AMS ammo, but I like that extra second of air time. Ran it with a twin-configured Jester piloted by Kanajashi. Without a word, we immediately started playing like something out of Jurassic Park.
You know... the raptors.
One of us would distract, the other would circle, then we would close with alarming speed and absolutely eat people. When LRMs were fired, our four overlapping AMS would almost totally protect us. The mech runs ice cold. I mean, totally and absolutely ice cold. It takes three alpha strikes, while running at 100%, on Tourmaline Desert, to get to exactly 100% heat. It simply will not overheat if you stick to a single weapon group.
The mech is absolutely incredible for hit and runs or mid-to-close-ranged fire fights against people who expose themselves for even a second. Guilt free 38-point laser accurate alpha-strikes are outright fear inducing. Like having a boom-cat without being ammunition limited, having a long ranged option, and requiring a little more skill to hold the beam on target.
Torso twist speed with an XL350 is blazingly fast, too. It moves like a mech half its tonnage, but with all 65-tons worth of armor.
Overall? I am very, very pleasantly surprised with this mech.

Agreed! Did 2LL 4ML and did 5 consecutive 500-600 damage games with 3-5 kills each. Finally died on the last one.

*Sigh* Don't tell me I have to spend MORE money now. I just bought the Phoenix package and now I have to get this too. Sheesh.
As a Cat pilot, I might not have a choice.

First match with it was amazing. XL340, 4mL, 2 ERLL, 2 JJ's. pew pew'd until I couldn't pew anymore.
Remaining matches I walked into probably the most extreme LRM fire I've ever experienced. Mech certainly lasted longer than I expected under the rain of LRM's, likely due to the dual AMS.
JETsTER
I'm using an XL340 I have in the lab so I'm a ton short.

A 65 tonner running XL to carry slightly more firepower than a Jenner? Absolutely ludicrous, indeed.

If you want an effective energy boat you're probably better off with the BattleMaster, since at least it can carry a 400XL and stick most of those heatsinks inside. There's little reason to go for a Jester over a K2 I can tell.
If it had just one ballistic in the side torso or something, it would have been an exceptional 'mech along the lines of the Flame.

I'd say it's at least partly because of the basic human need to feel happy about stuff you just bought. I bought it, am having fun playing it and will likely play it a lot, but it's more about just loving catapults than the mech actually being incredibly good.
It isn't bad, but if I really wanted to kick *** and/or get lots of C-bills, I'd go for battlemaster G / shadow hawk H / firebrand / heavy metal / misery instead.

To first point:
Given a Jenner has a very heavy weapons complement for its tonnage, yeah. It is impressive. Furthermore, that you have the tonnage to actually COOL said weapons complement effectively, unlike a Jenner, you have a damage multiplier. Effective firepower increases since you have more uptime. Jenner, Jagermech, Orion... a 38 point alphastrike capability is downright dangerous by any mech's standards, outside of LRM or SRM heavy mechs, and they have their own assortment of problems.
On top of that, you have the armor of a 65 tonner and the speed of a 50 tonner. You are moving at nearly 100 kph in the damned thing, meaning you can put those 38 points of firepower where you want it, when you want it. Hell, you can dictate the time and place of your attack because you simply outpace anything that might outgun you.
As for item two:
When all I had was my quad-ERLLas flame, I laughed, and laughed, and laughed at people who thought an effective energy boat had to be an assault mech. Speed counts for a lot. If you can cram in the same heat efficiency, same firepower, and beat out the mobility by leaps and bounds then you have a better energy platform. Granted, the Stalker is a far better peeksniper/laserdrill compared to the Flame, but it is just about spot on with the Jester. When you take that away, all you are left with is a big, slow target that is easier to smack around at distance and far more vulnerable when things get close. Doing more with less (tonnage) works out better this way.

If he thinks yours is bad, he would hate the 100 kph 6 medium pulse laser roflcat I am considering. ç
As for his argument, I have yet to see the Jenner that could sustain fire with just 2 er large lasers, let alone mount the 4 mediums as backup.
In fact......
JR7-F
just to fit the basic armament on, one is scarcely faster than the Catapult, and has HALF the heat efficiency. One could tweak it here or there, but I would say accusing it of being armed like a Jenner is a silly argument, as one can technically fit the guns on a Jenner, but realistically cannot USE them.

I was running a very similar THD build on my 5SS. Though obviously slower (running a standard engine in fact), it can only mount a single AMS, and no JJs. The 5SE has the JJs, but is 5E rather than 6E. I kind of want to see what they would do for a THD hero now...

I have been playing the Battlemasters and honestly, not a big fan. They are good mechs, but I am not a fan of Assault mechs to begin with, so I don't have the most fun playing them. The only Assault I have really enjoyed so far is the Victor (because of it's Heavy like attributes).
I like Catapults, and a Catapult that can move THAT FAST interests me. I prefer all my Cat configs to be 80kph+ so, this mech seems to fit my style.

Agreed, I would get it more because I like the Catapult as a chassis. Still, other than the Shadowhawk and Firebrand, all other mechs you mentioned are Assaults and I normally can't stand playing them. I have a Misery, and I HATE it. I also do not care for Jagers much.
I will think about the Jester, but I am not going to rush to buy it.
