Frequently due to not understand how timezone conversion works.
It would help to reduce the confusion by implementing a simply real time clock on the forum/site.
The clock will display the local time of the server.
Player from different time only need to read up the announcement to see the proposed maintenance time(eg: 9am PST), see the clock displaying 7am and know that there will be a patch in 2 hours time.

Server time is Pacific time. That's UTC - 7. Everyone should be able to figure it out from there.
Edit: About the only confusion there might be is where the server farm is. It's in western Canada (Vancouver maybe? I forget.).
Note: As of 2AM on Sunday November 3rd, the servers will be at UTC - 8 due to Daylight Savings Time ending.

taken directly from the latest news post we have several different times thrown at us
it was posted at
Oct 25, 2013 10:41 PM UTC
event starts at
25th October 2013 (no specified time)
event ends at
4th November 2013 (12:00AM PST)
i have seen them use just about every 3 letter combination following a time stamp for things they are posting
its likely not that bad when you only live a few hours away
i am UTC+10 so i am a full day infront of USA/Canada
my state does not do daylight savings but the most others in Australia do
i have no idea when or what states iniate daylight savings in other countries and nore do i care
the amount of information i need to process to figure out what time server time is and/or when an event is starting is just stupid
yes i can do it, but i should not have to........ every....... single ........time.....

PDT = Pacific Daylight Time. Daylight Savings in effect. UTC - 7.
PST = Pacific Standard Time. Daylight Savings not in effect. UTC - 8.
Normally, I'm like you -- I couldn't care less about what time it is in some other country. But when it's for a game I like, it becomes very easy to find things out just once and remember them.
For the times I do care, I use this: Time Zone Map

Sure the more mature of us can easily figure out what the time is across the globe, but why make players jump through hoops just to figure out a maintenance time?
Having the server clock will allow everyone to know at a glance.
inb4 someone QQ on the forum about why the server clock time doesn't match his/her local time.

A clock with official MWO Time (with no daylight savings adjustments) on the websites frontpage and possibly displayed at the top corner of the header in the forums would be a great addition. It gives groups of players a common standard clock to organise things by with themselves and each other, and people like myself who aren't American can easily keep track of things and not get things mixed up.
Its one of those simple little things that would just help so many out and help the different groups to better coordinate with one another.

Maintanance in 02:10:23
or
New Event in 02:10:22
etc.
So no time zone confusion

The servers are located in Montreal, not Toronto. Although they (Toronto) still think they are the capital of Canada and the center of the World.
