$6:: Loop { if GetKeyState("7", "P") break Send 6 ; } return
Which would fire weapon group six until you hit '7' on your keyboard. Less likely to break your game than rummaging around in the gamefiles editing things.

No...no it doesn't. That is like saying NARCing your team would send telemetry to your enemy. It doesn't work that way. TAG is a targeting laser that sends feedback to your mech on the target's information (speed, direction, distance...etc) your targeting computer then compiles all that information and sends it via communication channels to the rest of your team. Why on Earth would your mech send information to the enemy team?

I've used a coin myself but same concept.

This is actually the best option. To be honest, you don't always want it on, as it CAN be seen by enemy mechs and can give away your position, so it's good to have an "Off" option.

Not as good an idea though, because you need to be able to keep the TAG on even when not firing.
I tie my tag to machine guns and AC weapons to give me a tracer effect for accuracy sake.. <its a poor eyesight and bad ping workaround>.. however if i'm running a tag I always have it on an on/off dedicated button.

Did not know about the 4 second thing...that makes a huge difference. Never used a Tag (not sure I even own one) as I didn't think I could keep it on them long enough to matter....

Hmm... tried this on my JS. Didn't use trim control (axis-z?) but used speed control slider and mapped it to weapon group 6. Loaded a mech with TAG into test area and set group 6 to the TAG. Slider on center... TAG off. Slider moved to either + or - from center and TAG stays on. Moving slider back to center turns TAG off.
Thanks for the info that prompted this test. I'm going to keep/use it. Maybe others will find this useful also.

I agree completely. It's just that I can turn it on, forget about having to hold a key or a mouse/JS button down, freeing my non-nimble fingers for other tasks.
