Front line units are completely fitted with Omnimechs so unless a player can join a garrison cluster it may be hard to see second-line 'Mechs.

EDIT: i really want to see a Aidan Pryde hero 'Mech! It is a custom variant and we also have the detailed loadout so there is no reason to not include it.

A non-standard alternate configuration of the Timber Wolf, this configuration was famously used by Star Colonel Aidan Pryde. The primary long range weapons are a pair of ER Large Lasers[ which are backed up by a pair of LRM-20s for long range combat. For close combat, two ER Medium Lasers are carried as well as an ER Small Laser. The Pryde Configuration also mounts four jump jets making it highly maneuverable

They've said in the past they'll never create specific people's mechs like that, I'd find it for you but I believe you know how search works.

I already read that of course, but i remember what they actually said is that they would not make Hero 'Mechs based on famous characters for two reasons: 1) often these "notable pilots" used stock variants of the 'Mechs. 2) When they use custom variants there are no accurate info on their loadouts to recreate them. Neither of these conditions is verified with Aidan Pryde's Timberwolf :o

I really want to have more canon 'Hero mechs instead of these silly clown-painted 'Mechs.

Boar's Head, Yen Lo Wang, Heavy Metal, and Protector, are all canon heroes, mind you Protector is based off of Aleksander Kerensky's ON1-Kerensky.4 /15 sadly are canon and the rest are from the magical land of PGI, which seems to be unimaginative.

But I'd rather not see a bunch of Aiden Prydes walking around with superiority complex Timberwolves, which incidently it would make more sense to see his Summoner which was his main mech until he was slagged in a Timberwolf. His "custom" loadout was nearly identical to the prime loadout aside from 1 or 2 weapons being different and the addition of jump jets. I'd rather see some truly unique original ideas from PGI, than "oh look another copy paste from a book". Dont get me wrong, I hate the clans, but enjoy some of their mechs quite a bit and the Timberwolf is one, but as I said above, I dont want to see a bunch of "Aiden-fangirls&boys" strutting about, cause when it comes down to it 99% of people are gonna change the loadout the instant they get the mech and then its just a mech painted to look like someone else's that you paid real cash for, that probably another mech can do better, but for like a %5 loyalty pt bonus and %30 cbill bonus, someone could have a mech with sticker and paintjob that says Aiden Pryde on it and the similarity or whatever you'd like to call it ends there. In a way, its disrespectful to the memory of that hero, to take their mech, and just bastardize it. Part of the reason I think it'd be neat for a "stock only" ladder, where heroes would really shine.

True but he made his famous last stand in the Timberwolf.

Besides the fact he created his own legend in that Timberwolf..

I do not see any reason to not include more canon Hero 'Mechs (and name them after their pilot..?). You might already know i take quite seriously the roleplaying aspect and i love the Battletech universe, sentiment apparently not shared by PGI nor most of the players. Honestly, if i could have decided how to make Hero 'Mechs and had not to worry about money entries (yes in a perfect world every game developer could make the game he dreams about without caring about money) i would make them ONLY from canon 'Mechs piloted by notable characters (choosing custom variants, does not matter if they only changed the cupholder model, a hero 'mech must have that "Aidan Pryde piloted this!" feel), named after them (Rhonda Snord's Highlander? Not sure if it is a custom variant however) and with fixed loadout (yes, pure feeling!).

Clan Hero 'Mechs would be more difficult to make because the most famous pilots usually just changed the weapons, so different variants cannot be made. For example, Aidan Pryde used a Summoner in both his Trials of Position: the first had a pulse laser in its right arm (probably instead of a the PPC, so it may have been a ER Large Pulse Laser), the second an ER Small Laser and a SRM launcher instead of the LRM15. (though this leaves 1.5 tons unaccounted for..?);

a standard Omnimech can mount use this loadout and 30$ seems too many for a 'Mech with a fixed loadout which can be used on standard 'Mechs, even if they have a good honor/loyalty bonus and is nothing less than Aidan Pryde's Summoner, a must have for every Jade Falcon warrior.

How's about adding special geometry for each package, akin to the Founders and Phoenix mechs? The geometry would make the mechs looks like their clan's totem animals. To add on this idea, each mech would have the abbreviation representing their clan's geometry.

Examples:
Clan Jade Falcon Package-your mechs are wearing beaks on the CT or head, triangular shoulder and knee pads, hand actuators replaced with talons and mech variants would have (JF) by their name.
Clan Wolf Package- your mech would have a wolf faced CT or head, claws for hands, and mech variants would have (W) by their name.
Clan Ghost Bear Package-Claws for hands, bear faced CT or head, claw-like shoulder pads and knee pads, and mech variants would have (GB) by their name.
Clan Smoke Jaguar Package- jaguar faced CT or head, sqauare shoulder pads and knee pads, and mech variants would have (SJ) by their name.
