The information is obviously being logged, by PGI. Just let us access that stream, already.

Oh please. Min/maxing happens without the log, and giving us visibility into it would not increase that.
A combat log would allow us to see when the game isn't working properly... for instance when that AC20 you're shooting hits that spider for 20 damage, yet its armor isn't affected. Or when you shoot someone else with that AC20 and it only does 2 pts of damage to them.

This.
I remember watching combat vids in games like Gunship 2000 and such where you could move the camera around and see what happened in other areas during a mission. Entertaining and informative, this from a game that allowed you to lock onto a cow with Hellfire missle and of course, follow through on that opportunity.
Even if it were a test feature, imagine how much easier it would be to recreate a bug if you could capture its occurence when looking back at the combat film.

Absolutely agree, and it would be great if you had a combat log with multiple filters so you could see what you really hit and were hit by. Link the two features together and you would have one of the most awesome game features ever, and the perfect tool for trouble shooting the game.

This is the worst reason for not implementing a feature.
Guess what? Min-maxing is gonna take place. You aren't gonna stop that. You aren't even gonna reduce its frequency.
Enabling access to the game's statistics, you allow players to make clear, scientific arguments about how exactly things are broken. The types of statistical analysis that the developers themselves SHOULD be doing.
What's hilarious, is that folks like Amaris the Usurper have done amazingly detailed analysis despite having very limited tools to do said analysis.... of course, those forum users have not been rewarded with premium time, despite making contributions which have had clear beneficial impacts to the development of this game.

'when the hell did I get shot by an AC/10?'

Besides the broken HSR, there is no built-in tutorial with respect to combat and damage indicators.
Mechs get shot at with lasers in the back, and you know it's a newbie piloting it when they don't bother to look behind them.

Watching replays answers a lot of questions and concerns that players have, look at the whole Spider hitbox debate.

And less random deathmatch arenas. Whatever happened to CW? Is that an expansion pack now? What a disaster lol.

And less off-topic posts from people so scorned by PGI that they can barely read the monitor from all the tears streaming down their face.

Tears? You are mistaken sir. MWO is nothing but lolz in its current state.
I'm all for a combat log. The "game" is void of any features that enhance competitive gameplay in a way that's fresh and new to players who have so many alternative games vying for their time.
