Oh those crazy Medium pilots who are they kidding by actually letting learned skills overcome blind adherence to Meta?

I still like the Hunch Swayback (ghost heat and all). The mech is fast and great for doing damage.

or that with it's twist speed and range, and high insta-alpha potential, good Hback pilots can snap that hunch out of harms way pretty easily. Add in it's complete and utter lack of a blindspot when elited, and the fact it's torso weapons have a better fire arc range than any other mechs ARMS do, and well, you know, most haters really don't understand the life of a Medium jock is entirely int he little details. No lag shield/hit registry armor, no 20 tons of armor, just skill to guard our precious behinds.

SJR has been using HBK 4Ps. I am unsure if they will continue to do so after the introduction of the Shadow hawk.
Jagers are not that uncommon. We don't generally use them. Luna Wolves and 228th use them pretty frequently, as does BSK I believe.
Also what unit are you in, and what do you consider "comp" play.

Would work even if you just replaced the 4P's energy hunch with one containing 6 ballistic hardpoints. A large laser in each arm, a medium in the head, and 6 MG in the hunch? Lots of room for DHS... strip armor with the lasers then crit seek with the MG. Might be fun.

I actually drop with several, though I have been out of it lately. Primary is HARDCorp, and since I see all the usual suspects, out there, I consider Comp Play fighting against those groups in 12 man. Sometimes the unit does well, sometimes not. Seldom has there been a time where my choice of mech would have mattered. Unless my mech would single-handedly stopping a 12 man roll on it's own. (We have some guys who are not as into practice and the concept of chemistry as I would like, TBH).
Simply put, if I am north of 500 damage and have at least 3 kills, I am thinking I did my part, be I driving a HBK (I prefer the 4G, but have used the P fine too, though I always seem to pull Terra Therma when I use it), Jager, Ilya, VTR, pretty much none of which are designed to poptart. Haven't had a chance to really try using my Shawks in 12 man yet. (I am assuming they are working well for you?)
Truth be told, I am waiting til I see more constant team consistency before I jump back in.

My hopes are on a Hunchback IIC
Although UAC/20's kinda stand in the way of it being done properly

- 4G with JJs
Yes, let us get closer to Mechassault, Hawken, or Virtual On lunacy
Not every mech should have JJs. Let us just leave JJs to canon variants.

The JJ thing for a Hero HBK having JJs stems in part from the Hunchback IIC having them, and in part from the name of Isoroku Kurita's personal HBK, the Murakumi, being translated in BT materials as "Cloud Gatherer" (despite the Japanese word for "cloud" being "kumo" (which means the name probably should actually be "Murakumo" (literally "cloud masses", alternatively "gathering clouds")), while "kumi" apparently means either "set/group/team/class" or "bitter (taste)"), which (for some) gives connotations of flight.
