One thing that I have wondered... do you have to Level-Up a Champion Jenner-F if you already have a leveled Jenner-F?

I don't know if Champions have to be leveled independently of their basic counterpart... the 10% XP boost would make the Champion Jenner-F a nice replacement for my standard Jenner-F.

Founder, Champion, and Phoenix mechs share the same Mech Tree Efficiencies as the standard variant they are based off of. Sarah's Jenner could be considered a champion, but one you had to pay $ for directly, not $ for MC to buy mechs.
My $.02 is that the Champions are the exemption to the rule, don't buy non-hero mechs with MC. The CBills:MC ratio is about 2,499:1 on normal mechs. If I were to build any champion mech's loadout on a non champion in smurfy's mechlab and compare the MC price of the Champion the ratio goes up to 7,374:1 for the spider, and 3,478:1 for the atlas when it ISN'T on sale. So these are shortcuts to grinding XP and/or Cbills for the chasis and loadouts. Don't want to take the shortcut, that's fine. I think the drawback to buying these mechs are with the XP Boost you gain less Cbills while grinding the efficiencies. ex. Say it takes 10 matches to get enough XP for Basic efficiencies, and you get 10 matches worth of CBills. With XP Boost it would only take 9, and you'd get 9 matches worth of CBills.

First... Where's the Camo/Color sale?

To the ... "Never buy for MC what you can buy for C-Bills." You cannot buy champions with C-bills. Yes, you can buy the same hardpoints in the non-champion variant. But in functionality, at least in pug drops, they are not exactly the same. Many opponents see the (C) their targeting system and expect a stock trial mech piloted by an inexperienced pilot. You can often surprise them with unexpected loadouts and skills. This element of surprise makes the Champions far more valuable to me than their 10% exp boost.

All that said, just like Heros ... try to buy only when they are on sale! Like now.

When possible (due to sales). I like going for a Hero, Champion, and a C-bill variant to get my 3 of each mech. Lets me use my c-bills for modules and new mechs.

To offer a dissenting opinion... I think the JR7-F© is a great deal. That build would take over 10 million C-bills to put together from scratch; for just $5 you save yourself 20-25 hours of grinding. Sure, if you can play all day and generate millions of C-bills effortlessly then it doesn't make sense to pay real money for it... but if your time is limited then this is a great light mech to start your collection.

I think the best way to get ahead in this game is to not play at all

I'm not much for the other Champion Mechs, but the Jenner is definitely a good value for what they've posted in this sale. I do wish, PGI/IGP, that these sales included more content to draw in more consumers here, but I'll take what I can get when I get it I suppose... I do hope there are more GXP Conv. and Color/Camo Sales to tie in with selling Mechs and trying to encourage the sales to your gaming community. Limited sales (even spread out between weekends) limits your client base for those willing to put in actual currency for playing. But... I do have to thank you Devs for keeping this a non-Pay2Win game!

Well, I sold my old non-Founder's Jenners a while ago because I really wasn't using them for anything other than leveling-up my Founder's Jenner-D. Once I had my Jenners mastered, I sold the -K and the -F and just kept the Founder's -D.

Now, I just re-purchased the Champion Jenner to get that 300XL and the DHS, ES, and FFA... and it came Mastered (since I already had the old one Mastered). It's actually cheaper than buying the normal Jenners with MC right now. Was a good use for an empty Mechbay, and now all it needs is that additional Module Slot to be fully leveled. I probably won't be purchasing the -K again because if I want a full suite of Modules then I'll just go to my Raven 3L... but the Jenner-F does have its unique trick of the 30pt Strike with 6ML... 34pts if you do 5ML and a ERLL...

I think it's really really funny that on this website the picture of the atlas does not have glowing eyes

but the picture that is in the user interface DOES have red eyes

and yes, Atlas used to have really red eyes that glowed from a mile away....

Now, they don't, and I cannot remember the reason why.

I suppose that glowing red eyes you can see from a mile away is a good thing

but, I want that intimidation factor.

I actually like these trial by fire sales, and being able to grab a champion mech is an added bonus. Think about it: a beginner plays forever on a trial mech, right? I mean forever minus a day when they eventually purchase their own.

BUT, you cannot buy any efficiencies for ones that you don't own. So, let's say you have enough XP to unlock all the basic efficiencies for a jenner. You could 1) use your C-Bills and buy the nonchampion version and then spend even more C-Bills upgrading the jenner and then using more C-Bills on two other jenners to elite' or 2) spend the MC on the champion jenner, save your C-Bills for two other jenners that are a wash just for the elite.

I know that some may say, "yea, but if you have the normal trial by fire sale, who would do that?" This is a valid point, but perhaps you don't have the C-Bills available to buy the trial version you spent so long on, or you don't have the time to gather that many C-Bills.

I know that I have about 3 trial mechs that have enough XP to get close to unlocking all the basic efficiencies but I don't pilot those mech types anymore.

yeah but you are a misleading shill, so what?

e: I will add this... save your money for sales on heroes and paint if you like that option. With the x2XP bonus you would be better off getting gxp by playing different mechs each day. Also, they should be having an MC sale in about 4 weeks and that is the best time ALL YEAR to spend any money on this game. Then wait for Hero Mechs to go on sale and use that mc to purchase them. Live and Learn and learned I have from PGI/IGP. Im pretty frugal but not lacking any disposable income.

I like to consider myself an elite Snoopy pilot(Jenner). The JR7-F is arguably the best depending on how you play. A new 300XL with fully loaded FFA, Endo, and Double heats this is an awesome deal. Take out the SL add 2 ML and another Double Heat sink and you have an elite competitive mech. Great deal especially if you are new to the game. Bought it just to have another Snoopy with Double XP.

It seems the only sales I benefit from are things like Founders, Pheonix and Saber type packages.

I own all the other mech types as they are released otherwise.

These sales should be bundled with a couple of days of premium time. Don't understand why premium time/a colour isn't thrown in as well. Especially the premium time is difficult to stop using when once started...

There havent been any competitions for a long time (assault Vs the world, medium Vs the world etcetc).
I would love to see something like that more than these sales.

Please devs, organize more competitions.
My 2cents for this topic.

The Jenner is well worth a purchase, half tempted to buy another myself for that price just for another 300XL engine! :D
