Well, I've been messing around with a bunch of concept sketches, and while I'm not happy with my Marauder, one of the concepts led me to an idea for the Nova.

All mechs in MWO have had waist turrets added, making a huge change to units like the Locust, Jenner and Cicada. So, one would assume the Clanners are no different. Thing is, the hunched hip/shoulder design is central to the Nova's theme.

So this, is my compromise. I left the arms off for now to better display the torso/hip design.

Man you are just the best, why haven't they/anyone hired you to do concept art for people. Most of your work is great and I love it.
This is great, and would put money down if the nova resembled this in game.

They just keep getting better and better.

For this one, the only thing that irks me is that the upper legs might need a little more meat than they have currently.

I actually erased the rear leg line editing it, lol. there should be more meat. Good catch.

head hitbox is the front windscreen panel. Seems pretty small to me.

I get killed there a considerable amount, and I've killed something like 75-80% of Catapults by head-shoting them.

if a panel that size leads to a large number of kills, then we seriously need CoF added.

I'm talking about the Catapult keep in mind; but you never know until it's in game.

It's like a Nova and Bushwacker had a baby. Not a bad thing, but I am still trying to wrap my head around them giving every 'Mech torso twist... I kind like it without the arms actually.

Damn fine work.

Though i would recommend not coloring it.

It looks so much better as black and white.

Did you ever play the Mechtech patches to MW4?
Looks an awful lot like their version <_<

Edit: wrong smiley

can't say I did. Tried it once way back and was underwhelmed. But only units I tried were things like the Marauder

Don't be to worried about it: best part of it was it was better than Mechassault (which I had the dubious privilege of playing first )

... well that and it had an interesting take on balancing Clan.......... lasers
If I recall correctly - gonna have to re-install to check - IS basic laser, 3 damage, 2 heat, Clan basic laser (ER) 3 damage, 5 heat.

Big thing I remember is the Clan lasers, were not heat efficient, and the IS ones were - only advantage the clans had was more range. (even over IS er lasers)
On the other hand, all the other Clan weaponry matched or exceeded the IS stuff sooo.....

Back on topic, they gave the Nova/Blackhawk a torso, almost exactly like your picture - but not the Locust IIC or other similar mechs...
Always wondered about that :D

Not really. TBH I always thought the MW4 MadDog was just about perfection.

I just wish the MW4 Mad Dog kept the original's arm and dropped the chin turret. The beefed up body plan makes more sense otherwise.

So who do you need to beg to see the awesome Nova redesign with arms attached? ;)

me when I have more free time. But I have some fantasy concept sketches I have been commissioned on I am way behind on first. And I really need to get to doing finish stuff on my UrbanMech and Vulcan designs.

That said, the chin turret and arms are what I like most on the MW4 design. The TRO arms ere ridiculously unbelievable and fragile looking. The chin turret, is fine for me, though I also have toyed with sketches where it was a sensor turret only, akin to an Apache Longbow.
