SO

I know Ive seen other people use this build but I cant get over how good it is.

Shadowhawk (P)
2 AC2
AC5
Mlas
XL275

With JJs and a top speed of 89.1kph this medium mech excels at being everywhere at once amongst the battle line.

I can add my impressive weight of fire to multiple engagements within seconds of each other, and as long as you stay near someone heavier you are largely ignored.

In a regular match I get between 400-600 damage in this mech, with an effective damage cap of around 800 due to ammo limitations.

My Elo must be decent, I regularly run into groups like DV8 and Kong, though I don't win those matches as often of course :D

I can't find a better build (for me) and for the last week or two I have literally ONLY piloted this exact build.

Is there a better Shadowhawk(p) build?

Also this thing is untried for 12 mans, anyone have experience with this build in 12mans? Either piloting or on the receiving end?

Close to my build. I swapped the A/C5 for an Ultra A/C5 :(. Even with the UA/C5 jamming, the dual A/C2s are doing work.

I also liked the 1 UA/C5, 1 A/C2 and missiles (either 1 SRM2 and 2 SRM4s, or Streak SRM2s).

Both used an XL275 with DHS and Endo.

Good build that yields good results.

I've seen a lot of people using that build. Seems to work well. I would suggest using an XL280 instead of an XL275. They both weigh the same.

I haven't messed with my first configuration much, but it's fun. I have an ac10 and an errlas with an srm2 in the head. I think I may have went xl300 with it. It's very fast, takes a beating and can cause massive pain. I like using grouped ac2 builds, but thought I'd try something different with the ac10. My other two shawks are built around an ac20 and a guauss. They're all very fun mechs to play.

Using triple AC/2. No shortage of ammunition at all. Heat is the only problem, but hell I don't even use half of my ammo and I get 400 damage!

Meh

I will agree that despite ITS MASSIVE OVER SIZING *stares at PGI* it is an amazing mech.

I just run a PPC, AC10, and SRMs with an XL 295 and JJ's

Alternatively and AC20 + PPC

Torso + Gauss = Excellent Trolling, I must say I was timid at first with explody gauss rifle. But it seems to be better then expected. :(

It can be situational, but works well when you have the right conditions. A good open map, competent teammates and wise piloting will make the gauss hawk shine. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have stupid opponents. My record is five consecutive gauss shots at extreme range to hit the same player before he moved. And I mean I just recharged and shot as fast as it would go without needing to adjust aim at all....

We all want brain dead opponents like that... I mean, how can you not notice being hit by gauss rounds over 20 seconds...? More why is anyone standing still for over 20 seconds...?

No kidding. I love stupid opponents, but more often than not they end up being on my team. :P

I like the 2 ac2/UAC5 build but with 2 JJ's you have 4 tons of ammo.
90 shots with the uac5 and 37.5 shots for the ac/4 or?

Ballistics seem the way to go these days. Way too much dps to ignore.

Well, to be fair, the hit sound/notification has been borked for a while now. I notice it particularly when getting hit by gauss rounds. That is, no indication at all that I'm even being shot, then all of a sudden I get the "Critical Damage!" warning. Of course, it's far too late at that point.

That is the only reason I don't run 3 A/C2s. With the ghost heat, the 1 UA/C5 and 2 A/C2 combo is much cooler.

Unfortunately I comment on the forum at work durring lunch or break so I can't view my builds. I want to say maybe 4 tons A/C2 ammo and 2 tons UA/C5 ammo (maybe 3). Normally it lasts the entire match, but ammo does get low towards the end. It isn't a spam the fire trigger loadout. I think this is running a XL260 or XL265 and I have no external heat sinks (but do have DHS). With Spead Tweak, I think I am doing 78kph. I do have 2 JJs. Also, limited armor in the arms (a little more in the arm with the 1MLaser).

Still, if I do run out of ammo, there isn't grounds to give me {Scrap} about it in a match :P. If I run out of ammo, that setup bagged me aroud 2 kills and 500 to 600 damage (or higher). I wouldn't be the person to look towards assigning blame for a lack of effectivness ;). Besides, at least I have 1 MLaser backup *shrug* LOL. I suppose I could ditch the generally uselss 1MLaser for 1 ton of ammo. May yet still.

The Shad functions better as a high alpha jump sniper than it does with a bunch of dakka weapons. DPS weapons largely limit its ability to use its mobilty and tanking capabilities to their full effectiveness.

Maybe...Sort of. I use both a high alpha ballistic setup and the Daka I mentioned above. Both are currently over 2.00 KDR.

I think you are right in the sense that the high alpha/jump setup can be a bit more dealier, but with good figures either way, I will run with what is fun and is still working for my playstyle.

To me, the Shadowhawk seems flexible enough to do both well. IMO

Isn't this true for all mechs? (Except the ones without jets, they have to hill hump instead).
