good build, but I prefer SHD-2H "Triple Threat" because it's just a burn down of the target at extreme range.

I think you would be better served replacing that single mlas with a TAG.

XL255, 2AC5, AC2, XL 255. Drop the ML for that one extra precious ton of ammo.

Ditto, my take on it:

Use 2D2 or 5M and put in XL255, a Gauss rifle and 2 ERLL. Works just awesome. You don't need a bigger engine since you are a sniper :P

my 2H (thanks Fireslade!)
-Endo, DHS, 265XL, 3JJ
-2 AC5, 7 tons ammo
-1 Large Laser

2D2
--Endo, 280XL, 3JJ
-UAC5, 3 tons ammo
-4 SSRM2, 2 tons ammo
-2 Medium Laser

5M
-Endo, 275XL. 5 JJ
- AC10, 4 tons ammo
- 2 Large Laser

all work REAL well for me, all above 2.0 KDr, 2D2 above 4.6 KDr.

Really, so many useful builds with the Shawk! Hard not to find something for your style. Great mech!

2H
-Gauss Rifle
-ER-PPC
-280XL
-Endo
-DHS

Dug me out of the stat hole that trying to brawl got me in. Poptarting and completely unrepentant about it.

5M

Gauss
-2ML
-SRM6
-280XL
-Endo
-DHS

A bit more balanced. Never got me into any trouble to begin with.

2D2

UAC5
-4 SSRM2
-2ML
-BAP
-300XL
-Endo
-DHS

Effectiveness post-Locust swarm event is still to be seen.

With JJs and a top speed of 89.1kph this medium mech excels at being everywhere at once amongst the battle line.

I just do not see this as being fast enough for the armor it has. The mech is pretty horrible without autocannons and too slow with them.

trololololol.

I see you removed your thread on the subject. The answer still stands. The Shawk is beyond awesome, and the AC is very much a part of that awesomeness. Torso twist and stay moving, using an XL275-300, it is the path to true enlightenment.

Yeah apparently there already was one. I may have to try some builds in here. I see the SHD as some kind of light-hunter and the slower builds frustrate me ala hunchbacks.

Understandable. I think that is the thing I feel is one of the biggest things, as a light hunter, I think the Kintaro is better, but I find the role of "Light Hunter" less than desirable. IMO, it means leaving the team unsupported, and trying to chase Mechs which have a decided mobility advantage, which too often leads to wolfpack ambushes in the current Meta.

I find the SHD shines (for me) as a generalist build. Close to max armor, moderate sized XL engine, and usually loading the hardpoints up. The best anti light of the group is the 2D2, which really does well with a UAC/AV10/LB-X mated to 4 ssrm2/BAP and 2 medium lasers. Toss in a 275ish engine and JJs, and away it goes. Big thing is it's not going to be a Light Hunter, but it is a great Light Defender. I stay with the team, and use the mech to defend the Big Fatties, so speed is not as big a need, and the Lights are usually less prone to shenanigans when there are multiple mechs together shooting at them. The nature of the build also lets you fight bigger guys, who you can outmanuever, and snipe over alot of things with the AC. So it supports the general battle line well as needed.

5M I like to use as a mobile mid-range snipe/support mech. I toss on 2 Large Lasers and an ac10, the same 275ish engine, 5JJs and go harrass stuff usually at between 4-500 meters. not as good overall against Lights, but it can certainly hunt and kill a lot of things. This one has a lot of Atlas and Battlemasters notched on it's belt.

the 2H(P)? Admittedly the red-headed stepchild of the group, mostly due to the lack of a second energy hardpoint. (For my style) That and honestly, like the HBK, it's hard to effectively use 3 ballistic slots, and still use the other slots for anything useful. Fireslade recommended a build that I have been using a version of, using 2 AC5 and a Large or ER Large Laser. Mobile Barrage Engine. I've run it 3 times so far in this config, and only have 1 kill. But the damage has been over 600 in each match, so I think it has promise (if the kill stealing teammates stop shooting me in the back in their rush to killwhore).

I figure you don't see this many Shads come out of the wood works, new mech or not, if it ain't performing. And all mine are well above 2 to 1 KDr, so I'm pretty happy.

UAC5 plus AC 2 combo works really well for me heat is manageable and it lets me core bigger mechs just fine, the streaks are good for killing lights but they are also a decent weapon for when you start running hot, if you peel the armour off you may get lucky with a ct hit that could Finnish your enemy.

I've had alot of fun games with my shadowhawks I just hope the wolverine is as good when it lands in December.

I haven't much played the 5m, right now i've got an SRM 10 and LB10x on it with 2 ML but I can't recall how it plays.

Really just trying to find a build for the phoenix variant that performs decently. I'm trying to get an LB10-x on it with an XL 295 but that leaves me with weird tonnage for the laser slot... the game needs a 3 ton energy weapon.

Maybe a standard AC10 and a medium Pulse laser? Uses the tonnage up, gives you better damage concentration and makes the arm laser more useful against Lights? I know some folk like the spread of the LB for Lights though, so IDK . (I find a single LB to be inefficient for my play type)

I like the single LBX, though I have had times where I would've cored something out from behind had I had a normal AC10.

The LBX is great for light hunting and for scaring larger mechs with the 'face splat' if they are unprepared for it.

agreed it has it's place, and such, just feel that overall it doesn't take much more skill to hit a light with the ac10, and I spend more time fighting bigger mechs where that ability to focus damage is paramount. I'd be more inclined to use it on a BJ or a Cicada I guess, as mechs lacking SSRMs to give some "psychological warfare" capability.

1xAC10 w/4 tons ammo, 1xERPPC, XL275, DHS filler. Done. I've gotten 800+ damage with this and it is very effective. So effective that LRM boats single me out whenever I pop my head up. Even after breaking lock, hiding, and repositioning they lock onto me as soon as I show myself.
