Eventghost may be the way to go then, as you can leave it in wait and check the log if the issues rises again.

Hold on..

I've experienced this kind of issues, it's usually due to your controls configuration and/or your weaponsgroups.xml.

Simply get rid of your user folder (user/profiles) and restart from fresh or try to trash only the weaponsgroups.xml (that you find in user/profiles/yourname); either way you'll have to rebuild all the weapons' groups and it should solve it.

I had a similar problem with my AWS 9M that suddendly started spinning left without pause and other times I've experienced the same "non stop firing" groups. It wasn't either the keyboard nor the mouse.

It's clear that you have to make sure not to have other controllers (joysticks, gamepads) that are connected before deleting the stuff above :( and if this doesn't fix it, then check your mouse/keyboard on another pc to see if some keys are stuck.

I'm going to try this, and I didn't get any phantom strokes or anything...I'll check back here in a little bit. Also I've already disabled the touchpad while gaming, through the Alienware command center and windows 8 control panel config.

Another thing I've noticed last night while I was in training grounds, I was messing around with different weapon groups and I would assign certain weapons on #1 button, well guess what... they weren't firing haha, they would fire a different weapon group...or make up its own...I fixed this problem by taking off the certain weapon, and then putting it back on...I definitely think something is going on with MWO.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but Microsoft admitted Windows 8.1 may screw up your mouse operations in games. An update is forthcoming. Has anyone had this happen in Windows 7/XP? I have 7, never noticed anything.

Also, if you or your mouse has been "borked" by WIndows 8.1, please contact the proper authorities, and seek immediate medical attention.

I never had a problem with Win7 or Win8, but after the 8.1 upgrade is when this happened.

But, the funny thing remains with me that my mouse is unable to trigger and alpha strike. So, while I don't think a win8.1 mouse issue is what's happening here, I would be utterly unsurprised to find out it's a problem with how Windows is talking to CryEngine's keyboard hooking. It's pretty sketchy at best anyways, as anyone learning to use macroing software discovers.

Anyone with this problem (that is, not a sticky key/mouse issue) using win8.1?

So I deleted, the user profile weapongroups.xml and still the problem is present. I then proceeded to goto training grounds to redo my weapon groups and samething happens there, weapon group (1) does not respond to #1 button on mouse. I have to setup group one again, to make button mouse button #1 work with group #1...now this problem only is present during training grounds...but the other problem is still there with autofire on mouse button #1 during Assualt or Conquest. I really like this game and have decided to buy and external mouse, but I don't want to spend a nice amount of money to buy a gaming mouse if this game is broken on my laptop. Keep in mind, I just recently bought this Alienware with all the bells and whistles, and I'm sure this isn't the hardware issue...as of yet. I think either windows 8.1 is broken, or MWO is broken. I'm still not ruling out the issue yet with the hardware, till I purchase an external mouse.

Edit: does the same thing in training grounds with mouse button #2, won't work till I unassign and reassign. And it autofires intermittently on mouse button #2 in Assault or Conquest.

Alright so I found an old mouse hidden away, in my closet. It works fine with an external mouse, this will have to do, but disappointing that it doesn't work right with the touchpad on the Alienware, I'm still lead to believe it my be a Windows 8.1 problem, but we will see when the new patch come out.

I'm on an ASUS laptop and I bought it within the last couple months. I'm using Win 8, although there have been a bunch of updates I haven't actually "upgraded" to Win 8.1. I am using an external mouse, a Logitech G500s.

Actually I had thought that the mouse button was getting stuck so I was moving the verticle selection bar off of weapons group 1 and onto an unused weapons group altogether. This didn't work to completely stop the problem, but it did make it a little less frequent.

I also remapped my left mouse button to fire weapons group 1.

I then started double tapping the keyboard 1 not the numpad 1 when the unsolicited shooting starts, this will temporarily stop the shooting for me.

The random shooting of weapons happens on all maps, however it seems to be easier to trigger on Terra Therma, and I can get into a nasty loop where my weapons fire automatically as soon as cool down happens, my mech shuts down due to overheating, weapons fire, shut down, weapons fire, shut down... Mostly I have died to enemy fire when this has happened. Once I did die to engine explosion from overheating on Terra Therma and I do believe that this phenomenon was the culprit.

I have also had weapons group 2 fire by itself at times. Mostly I've seen it happen on Alpine.

I believe all mechs are affected, for me it has happened on Jenners, Centurions, Locusts and Shadow Hawks.

As I have not found a permanent fix for this problem, I try to keep a laser on weapons group 1. I might change it to Streaks on mechs that have them. It'll mess up my stats for that weapon but I will make sure that I won't lose ammo or shoot a friendly.
