Which Commando To Buy?

Hi, so I finally decided I'm gonna invest in some new commandos. 171 kph was just too tempting. I bought the death's knell. Running 4 medium lasers, xl 240 and an ams.

But I need 2 more variants... so I ask the community. Which two other commados should I buy? Which ones do you have the most fun with?

2D. ECM FTW. Slower, but good.

Not being a fan of current hit reg and the weight of missiles, I'd go 1B. Poor man's Knell, try 3MPL or a LL&2SL/ML or just 3ML.

The others are hard to make work with the max engine.

I personally run the Death's Knell, the 2D, and the 3A.

As Tericel1976 said, the ECM on the 2D is worth it. The 3A can run 2x ML and 2x streaks like this, or swap them for regular SRMS. There's also the possibility to take a smaller engine and make use of that extra .5 tons.

I don't like the 1B if you already have DK. The missile point only has 2 tubes, so it's hard to use well.
The 1D is worse than the 3A in every way. Both lasers on one easy to lose arm, and both missiles in the CT restricts what you can use (though admittedly you will rarely need 3+ criticals worth of missiles.)

Good point about 3A>1D.

I don't like to run streaks without ECM or BAP. Too easy to lose half your guns. And dumbfire missiles on a Commando are heavy and have hitreg problems. That's why I lean to the 1B, though it is objectively inferior to the Knell.

EDIT: Full disclosure, I haven't driven the 3A and sold my (mastered) 1B. IMO, owning a mastered 2D and TDK is the "end state" of Commando ownership.

SSRM2 for Spider-hunt + 1LL + 2 ML. :)

XL195, 3SSRM (2tons IIRC), ML, ECM is "standard."

And 3A can handle 2*SRM6 + 2ML. Rather slow build...

move ssrm ammo where you want.You can switch to DHS but you can not use FF.You will not overheat with 10 SHS and 3 streaks anyway unless hot map and non-elited.You rly do not need that backup laser bcuz game will end or you will be dead until you fire off all ammo.
I used this before but it is not that good for pugging and you are slower :x

Here's how I run my 2D and 3A (the 2xLL 3A is my favourite COM, even in the face of the 171.1 kph TDK):
Standard SSRM COM-2D.
2xLL COM-3A.

You could do your 3A on TDK and make 30% c-bills. :)

But I suspect you know that and I like mine to have "identities" too.

COM-1B "Li'l Horror" (3xMPL)
COM-1D (2xMPL, 2xSRM-4)
COM-2D (3xSSRM-2, ECM)
COM-3A (2xLL)
COM-TDK (4xML)

I'm a big fan of the COM-1D. You can build it with max engine like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2b60f19ec3f3141

Lasers in the arms and SRMs in the torso makes it easy to hit with the correct weapon groups. COM-3A can do a similar build, but one SRM launcer is in the arm making it harder to score good SRM hits with consistency.

139 kph+ 3 ssrrm hitting only back = khaotic

171 kph is super fun but not a must

I like the idea a lot but that's 5 tons of SRM gear for a max 200 damage and 12.5 shots. Have you tried swapping a. 2 in for a 4 and adding a ton of ammo? (Serious question, I'd want to try both options )
