The previous option worked, there were no know bugs (at least none reported around here), and it certainly wasn't "broken." In fact, I can't even recall anyone ever mentioning it.
So, yeah... Next Gen Xbox on deck...

For those of us in the underhive who use Joysticks...
Should I just exclusively fire "Group 1"? or just turn all my builds into Meta-humping alpha-strikers? Since 20 years of playing Mechwarrior games has created a muscle memory of pulling the trigger to fire the WEAPONS YOU WANT TO FIRE!
You know, with the WEAPON GROUP that has been SELECTED.
Dumbass move PGI.

I only have a three button mouse, and middle is for zoom. I can now no longer fire weapon groups 3-6 unless both me and my target are stationary.
Normally if im running a LRM boat i have tag on LMB and LRMs on RMB, with my secondary weapons on group 6 so when something closes i can just hit left arrow to change primary fire from tag to close range weapons+tag.
now i need to keep secondary weapons in group 1 or 2, and hold down a number key on my keypad while trying to pilot my mech at the same time.
Its just awkward now and i really dont see any benefit whatsoever in changing this.

Restore this option for internet justice. I mean it's simply something which shouldn't have gone away. Not on by default makes some sense, but it's an option that enabled people to play their way. Return this option and help Davros out. It's the right thing to do.

Indeed. Anything less is accepting PGI telling a player that if they are medically / physically unable to play the way PGI wants the game to be played: "Tough, there's the door, now get the **** out".
EDIT Which would be especially unforgivable considering the Sarah's Jenner situation.

Guns require triggers.

If I want to Alpha strike something I'll just configure one of my groups to have all the weapons selected. (maybe minus LRMs)

I genuinely cannot think of why this option was REMOVED instead of just changing the mouse button 1 default mapping.
It.....
I mean
PGI, you've done some pretty damn stupid things but at least there was some sort of logic behind it that I could follow even if it was wrong.
But...
This?

Now I will be able to get some work done when I get home instead of playing MWO all night. My girlfriend also wanted to send her deepest gratitude to you for finally breaking my addiction to this game.
I mean seriously WTF? Like someone above mentioned I use a joystick with a hatstick, and tracking a target in a fight, involves keeping my hand on the joystick with my finger on the trigger.
I do not have the time to be fumbling for 5 other buttons to fire the correct weapons group because all the other buttons accessible by my thumb are used for other important functions like heat vision, light amplification etc.
What possible reason could you have had for spending valuable man hours to remove a perfectly working and useful firing system?
Look, I am not much of a complainer. I did not complain about Ghost Heat, did not complain about 6 ppc alpha strike, did not complain about the immense heat of the ER PPC's which I use exclusively for my K2 builds...but this omission is a game breaker for me. Please put it back.
Thank you
