I just said I wouldn't build an APU based system since you plan on having a decent video card anway, and Windows 7 64 bit OEM is $99.00 since your going to have to buy one sooner or later... If Windows 8 doesn't have any clear/overwhelming advantages over NON tablet/touch screen apps, then why bother, it's not like your trying to run Windows XP...LOL
.
I never said Antec PSUs are bad, I said stear clear of Diablotek PSUs, and never buy the cheapest PSU you can get, also I have seen a "TON" of reviews telling how Diablotek PSUs catch fire or pop caps in less than 3 months, I mean I have read a "LOT" of bad things.
.
People are so sensitive here...

The APU's integrated GPU is irrelevant in this matter, except for being a back-up GPU probably capable of running medium settings in MW:O(pretty sure the 6530 chipset in it is equal to or stronger than a HD5600/8800GT chipset) in case something goes wrong with the dedicated card. Say not to get one because it has a integrated GPU would be the same as saying don't get a SB over SBe chip because it has a integrated GPU. The APU is maybe a touch more powerful then the Q6600, which according to Russ, has no problem with MW:O.

Like I said about using 8, I prefer using 7 myself, but if I can get a better system using that $99 else where, then I will do just that and deal with the free copy of 8 until I can afford a copy of 7.

If you agree with the PSU I had choosen is decent, why post things that sound like you didn't feel that way(because that is exactly how I took it). Also, why single out Diablotek? There are plenty of PSU that will burn just as fast, Aprevia, HEC, AZZA, Logysis, Raidmax, and the list goes on and on.

And I'm not being sensitive. How am I suppose to take a comment like-

No sense of humor at all... LOL, come on man, you never kid around?
.
I said " never buy the cheapest PSU you can get", I know full well about brands like Apevia etc, etc, Diablotek was just an example, next time I will list all the crappy brands...LOL
.
I didn't know you couldn't afford Windows 7 64 bit OEM.
.
I think you thought I was downing you, I wasn't, and I wasn't being mean ... geesh...

Kinda hard to take a joke when I can't hear the tone of voice or see facial expressions, especailly in a forum thread with a serious subject.

Im wondering, why not get a HD 6670 instead of the Hd 7700 ? You can crossfire the 6670 with the APU whereas you can with the 7700. I would think the crossfire solution would have good graphics and cost less to boot. Just a thought.

Will MWO work natively under Ubuntu or will I need to run wine?

I bought that very same PSU a week ago after spending a few hours looking around...best low budget one I could find atm. Good pick. I know it's already been said over and over but DO NOT skimp on the PSU!!! You might get lucky buying a supercheapo..might work for an entire year..but it will begin to fail..cause all sorts of problems..you will forget you bought a crap PSU..blame other components...when it finally dies (and it will) it could take other components with it in a sparking, blazing, inglorious end.

Not a bad idea, but for some people not so experienced with computers, it could be a issue. Plus you may have micro-stutter issues.

Because the 7700 will still be faster, and you don't experience driver issues or microstuttering perhaps?

That aside, great post Barberic

AFAIK, Cryengine is a DirectX based engine, which would mean it cannot run on a non-Windows operating system without using an emulator.

not to sound uppity or anything but if anyone doesn't have the specs to run this game your either way out dated or aren't a computer gamer. and if your going to up your current one to just play this game then that's fine spend the $400 to get it upgrade it. if your getting a new system altogether then i wouldn't just go min and go more or less all out get a good MB and cpu (AMD is typically cheaper) and strong video card with a fair amount of faster ram.
and a power supply that will stay with you for a few years worth of upgrading

my pick for a good system that can be upgraded
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T - $160 (AMD Bulldozer FX-4100 - $140 if you want a AM3+ cpu) i find that they aren't as good as the phenom II but are still as good as any other (personal problem with them)
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 - $120 (UD5 - $160 for SLI / Crossfire)
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 -$60
Radeon HD 6950 -$220\ GeForce GTX 560 - $200
Corsair TX750 V2 750W ATX - $100
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB -$100 ( black for for 5 year limited warranty)
Corsair Carbide Series 500R Mid-Tower Gaming Case - $100
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Heatsink - $30
for 770 + tax

for intel
Intel Core i5 3570K - $270
ASUS Maximus V - $220

This isn't anywhere near the one im using but it will do you for at least another 4 years at that time you can swap out the cpu for any of the AM3+ cpu's and get a new video card or crossfire / SLI the one you have you also wont need to upgrade your Power supply either

plus i don't know why everyone is so interested in 4 GB of ram but you should have more then what window wants you to have to run its self.
APU - don't use one unless your only using it in an office environment or laptop, To use one your your desktop is just plain silly its meant to work in place of a video card.

also the cost of the parts are in CAD

You can get better for the cost. Seeing as a 1090t isn't available, swap for a FX-6200, change out the UD5 for an AsRock Extreme 4, change the Corsair RAM for AMD RAM and save $20, change out the corsair PSU for an XFX 550w PSU, and put the extra $35 from that base cost to a Radeon HD 7850 and get higher performance for less power consumption.

Guys, that doesn't matter. This thread isn't about that. It's about a just over $300 upgrade or less than $500 full build that will meet or exceed the recomended specs for MW:O for those people that do not have $700 to put towards a new top end gaming system.

Jeez, why can't people understand that? I can put together $700 to $3000 builds all day long. Heck, I'm willing to bet my computer matches or exceeds the performance of 90% of the systems owned by the people on these forums. Heck, I'd be willing to bet my back-up computer matches or exceeds the performance of 70% of the computers owned by people on these forums. Anyone can put together a $1000 computer that can run MW:O. I'd like to see someone do it for less than $478.

if they dont have the specs now and just want the min to get by dont even bother not worth it like i said a nice upgrade is good but thats going to do you for how long maybe 4 months till an expansion comes out. and from experience playing with a guy that just has specs is like playing with someone on dial-up

GREAT you can play it,......... but you can only see 20 ft and your screen will studded when things explode around you oh and your weapon will always make you crash because you don't have the memory to render it

So if your poor don't play the game? and Have you actually read the thread including the proposed system?

Im going to assume not, otherwise you would not have made that absolutely moronic post.

This build is spec'ed out at recommended setting, not minimum setting. Atleast carefully read the OP before commiting
