Is this PGI actually, truly trolling us?

Seriously a 6 launcher? A six launcher in the catapult ears with ... 10 launchers 1/3 of the size ... bolted to the bottom and sides.

I absolutely cannot believe what I am seeing.

This is so many things... a joke... an outrage... devoid of thought... completely abandons cannon... is ugly... is pointless... was a lot of work for something so bad... I could go on and on.

Pretty much universally across the board, yes. The only mech, and it is only partially for the arms of the missile variants, that went silly is the CPLT

Once, long ago, Catapults were beautiful Battlemechs, and looked like this.

Then, a Dark Age overtook the Inner Sphere. Catapults as mankind had once known them were destroyed in a terrible cataclysm.

Their original launchers were lost, never to be seen again. Instead, newer, less awesome launchers were mounted on Catapult 'mechs. For a few, the launchers were merely clunky and ugly; the larger, uglier C4 boxes.

And while the C4 launchers were chunky and ugly (with hatches that did not open far enough) and made the Catapult the object of derisive nicknames, like Fatapult, Dumbo, and Cletus the Slack-Doored Yokel, there was worse to come.

For some Mechwarriors drove the A1 version of the Catapult. Once the platform of the Mighty Splatcat, the A1 had been brought low by Ghost Heat. For a brief, shining moment, it had ascended to the level of a Champion Battlemech ...

And then the horrible fall. For the A1 would never again have a decent target profile or small missile boxes to protect it's only weapons. Lo, the A1 was cursed with the fat C4 launchers.

But this is a Dark Age of Mankind, and We Cannot Have Nice Things.

And thus the VCR tubes were inflicted upon the A1 and C4, and the Earlobes, and the Extra VCR.

And there was much moaning and gnashing of teeth, and the Catapult pilots dressed in sackcloth and covered their heads with ashes, for while their 'mechs had indeed gotten a few nice upgrades (really on the K2 torso weapons) the beautiful lines of their Catapults had been ruined.

And the Mechwarriors of the Online fell into a Dark Age.

Why does my A1 streak boat need attachments? They're ugly, large, and I've got a bazzilion tubes in those arms already.... I needed whing-whangs hanging on the edges to fit the rest?

Also the arm mounted PPC's on the K2 are butt ugly. Give me back my sweet cowling.

should be order dependent, like getting PPCs to mount in the high torso position instead of low position on a BLR or QKD. Put the 10 on first.


That's the kicker- you can't actually choose which weapon mounts where. Sometimes you get lucky and it stays in the order you mount it. Most of the time the mechlab automatically sorts your weapons into whichever slot it wants, and there's nothing you can do about it. When asked about this some months back, the official answer was "we do not plan to ever let the player choose which weapon occupies a given slot." So hey, if you're lucky, the LRM15 goes in the 15 tube launcher. But if you're not, well, the SSRM2 takes that slot and your 15 is launching 6 at a time.

Come to your senses PGI this isn't April 1st, and this is a travesty that could have been at least %50 functional.

All missiles up to the 15 tubes should be able to be in the launcher, and the tubes outside the launcher should no longer have the missile door time delay when firing.

This could have been an excellent boon to LRM/SRM mixed loadouts retaining the missile door to protect the lrms while keeping the direct fire SRMs outside...

But this concept has been birthed 3 months early and you will be hard pressed to not help it along. Update needs an update ASAP.

This retrofit of the missile bays if not very in line with the spirit of a mech that was built to shield its missile when not being fired. I could understand strapping the last set on if the things been gutted to fit a max build.. Streak cats and splat cats should look slim compared to their walking silo of death brethren.

Great idea as far as visual upgrades that speak true to a loadout are wonderful. But when the add-on feels like it was done by someone who didnt quite get the idea of "blast doors" and no one in the know clued them in.. much time was wasted on something that will likely be another sad long lasting chuckle that detracts from what should have been as opposed to admitting a failed 'good try' and taking a second more informed path.

I dislike the change to the C1 box. All models should just use the smaller box if 15 or fewer missile tubes, and run the larger box if running more than 15 in an arm (and then we could even have some cool, lopsided builds). The worst part for me though, was that the change messed up my (Fractal) paintjob. It looked much better before the change ;)

Also not a fan of the new K2 ppc barrels. They're all small now... It make me feel insecure...

Anyway, to echo what others here have said, can we keep the torso weapon changes and revert everything else? Please?

Well, technically there was a different travesty on April 2. It just wasn't as "pretty".

Anyone consider the fact that missiles can now be fired without opening the bay doors & without a delay? Dunno what I think about this....

It should definitely be configurable by the player though, the random drop and plop system of weapon hardpoint management is pretty bad.

2nd Missleboxes:
-more tubes in the racks like nearly all other mechs do.
-or box size depends on amount of misseltubes
-or box can hold 20 misseltubes all over this get extra rack

It has SIX launchers inside the boxes now. Everything else bolts to the outside and is 1/3 the size.

My brain actually kinda hurts thinking about what they've done.

Please internally reprimand the artist responsible for this and those who approved it.

I want the old PPC model back so badly. It was of a MUCH higher quality look and feel. I bemoan them doing the same thing to the awesome's PPC's just to match all the dorky tiny PPC models (like the BJ)

They actually cannot. Even though the appear outside, they still suffer from door delay as if they were inside it.
