The problem is that they already "fixed" it. We all just hate it.

Ehhh, fixed is such a subjective term though. I suppose they fixed it in the sense that evey missile hardpoint in the arm now has it's own model representation, but they did it in the uggliest, easiest, and most irresponsible possible way. I agree with you that they "fixed it", but we hate it.

I pose this...

If the seals leak around your winshield, would you rather??

A: Apply housing caulk around the windshield and then run a bunch of duct tape around the windshield to stop the leak and "fix-it" or...

B: Have the winshield removed, the old urethane removed and the windshield cleaned (or replaced), all the surfaces properly prepared for a new bead of urethane to be applied and the winshield re-installed and "fix-it"

Sure both "fix" the leak, but one isn't such a rush hack job that looks ugly. This real world example, just like the game, comes down to time an money. PGI knows the duct tape repair is cheaper and takes less effort than the proper fix (reconfigurable missile pod internals).

It really makes no sense to me and I hope that someday it is improved. The add-on launchers outside the box look ridiculous. I might buy it if only an LRM20 fit in the box and subsequent launchers took up space on the outside. But only ONE launcher, no matter the size, fits in that gigantic box? You put an SRM2 in it and the other SRM2s, which weigh a fraction of the tonnage of an LRM15 or 20, has to hang out without armor protection (which apparently isn't modeled anyway - would seem to be that the outside launchers would be very exposed). It is, as we say in the Marine Corps, unsat. I rather like the idea of the box changing size somewhat depending on the launcher(s) contained within, but I can see how people would be upset with that too. I'd settle for the box being large and I, the pilot, being able to fit in it whatever I want (given the hardpoints).

Yes, PGI 'fixed' the catapult... In the same way I had my dog 'fixed'.

The outcry on this was extreme. There's a thread created by me along the same lines somewhere.

Yea, the design changes were pretty abysmal. I think every Catapult fan pulled a Spoony and yelled BETRAYAL!!!! when they saw the terrible changes.

I don't see why this can't be easily and simply reverted to the old missile box code.

They dont want to take a step back. The only thing we can hope is that they "improve" it. And i hope the improved version is more like the old models...

Definitely think the new missile boxes need to stay. Missile boats are easiest mech to pilot anyway, sitting back firing at targets friends have locked for you. Adding a very tiny extra silhouette to the missile tubes doesn't change anything on how the mech operates or who targets it. Don't fit 4x lrm 15 if you dont like it. Definitely nothing wrong with the current Catapult!

The point is it makes little sense for LRMs to look that way, and second it hurts Cats that wish to use small amounts of SRMS. A 6 Tube missile box should not be bigger than the CT.

You are also forgetting the purpose of the bay doors as well as the bays themselves.

We're not talking about 4x LRM15 jammed into two LRM15 boxes. We're talking about being unable to fit three SRM4 - 12 tubes - in a 15 tube launcher box. Or three SRM6 a 20 tube launcher box. It's lazy, ugly design to hang external launchers on a giant armored missile box with an armored door, that several small launchers would easily mount inside.

There's a lot wrong with the current Catapult geometry, and the vast majority of the MWO community that cares to comment on it agrees that this is a problem that should be reverted or fixed.

Hopefully before we die of old age.

I want a dislikebutton....
Srly... just because you dont like lrmboats you think its good to uglyfi the look of an mech? I know the Op mention the hitboxes but they didnt change anything on them.
This thread evolved to the optic problem of the catapult.
Its just look ugly and dumb with 6xstreaks (6 missles dont fit in this gigantic box rly?). And the new tiny ppc arms... srly... they just looking stupid.

edit:
Sry for my agressiv tone, i had nightshift....
