I am curious what a 97kph catapult would ride like. Not curious enough to buy MC though. Maybe if I am impressed by UI 2.0 in a few weeks.

He will ride waaaaaaay slower than my TDK

This is what I have been running. I am trying to decide if I can afford to go up to a 325xl or 350xl engine at the loss of heat sinks. They would be moved from the body to the engine, but I think I would still end up losing heat efficiency.

CPLT-J (315xl, 47% heat eff, 3000AMS)
CPLT-J (325xl, 44% heat eff, 3000AMS)
CPLT-J (350xl, 42% heat eff, 2000AMS)

What I have discovered is I use about 2500 AMS ammo on a good match.

Also: What modules are people running. I now have it mastered, so 3 module slots.

In case, anyone is wondering and says you will never kill anyone with that build...

Heh, I've gone the other way and swapped regular LLs for ERLLs. I'm finding the added range helpful. I'm also very close to eliting it, so that should help a bit.

Thats not very good stats, probably cose you using XL engines too much ;)

3000 AMS ammo is too much I think, better you do if you will swap 1 ton for 1 heatsink or something . .

The majority of my deaths come from center torso destroyed, 95% of the time. In those 27 matches on the jester I only once got left torso destroyed. XL engines definitely aren't the issue. And you will notice my stats on the CPLT-J are quite a bit better then the other ones. I listed them to give people a baseline. If you see me walk into your game on your side in a C4 we are going to lose. There is nothing you can do about it... ;)

And on the AMS ammo.. As I stated. a good match will burn through it all even at 3k ammo. Two launchers can go through 1k in about a minute.

Jester will be my first Hero mech i'll be getting. Jesters has been tearing up the battlefields and I'm very impressed with there performance. Though I'm saving C-Bills for the K2 to practice till I get her. But in the mean time I'm researching for some awesome Jester builds. I was wondering if your can take off the JJ's for more heatsinks to keep her more cool?

You don't want to take off the JJs. Honestly, it's a huge advantage on this mech.

Maybe I will give it a try when I can get my MC back up. Not working right now so im free gaming it for awhile. But when I was in K2 I got my side torsos blown off more than once. Granted not as much as other mechs. Maybe our play styles are different. But it sounds like it might be worth a try

I typically run only one ton of ammo for each AMS, but in today's LRM-happy environment, more is better.

ST destruction on Cats with an XL engine has always been a problem for me. The ST's are pretty small from head-on, but they're easy to hit from the side. As such I tend to favor PPC's (I only play the Jester and the K2 - just not a big LRM guy), because the large barrel provides some protection for them. It's not quite as important on the Jester, as the higher speed certainly helps. I find the XL almost a requirement for a Catapult. The 300 seems to be the sweet spot for me.

This is a bad idea imo. JJs are what makes the Jester unique. If you aren't going to use them, just get a K2 instead.

CPLT-J (350xl, 42% heat eff, 2000AMS)

I ended up going with this as my variant on a couple of different things. First I had the 315XL engine in my K2 and didn't want two totally identical mechs. The increase in speed also effects both torso twist and the ability to run along closely behind the lights. This means on things like Terra Therma where the lights run off to cap, I arrive shortly after then have engaged the target at whatever check point they went to. I am kind of heavy back-up for them.

I've been having a lot of fun with this build. With speed tweak you can stomp around as fast as most mediums (capping with this build is totally doable), PPCs and jump jets are always nice, and 4MLs are solid.

I find that 1 JJ is enough to peek/poptart/climb whatever I've needed to, though I could comfortably throw another JJ in and ditch a ton of AMS ammo.

This build feels more rounded out than a similar build which dropped the AMS altogether and went for an XL350. Without the AMS, this game wouldn't have been possible:

I find PPCs to be much easier to wield than ERPPCs both for heat reasons and due to the fact that I'm a stupid unwashed PUG and other PUGs tend to walk into my line of fire when I'm shooting PPCs before I see them.

Last note: I cut only a little leg armor and some side torso, which may have been foolish. If it's more your style, cutting a bit more leg armor and bumping up the ST armor might increase your jester's durability.

Tinkered around a bit and came up with this strange JESTER build.

Funny fact: Avoid brawls and fire 2xPPC-wait-1xPPC and the heat is actually managable (even on Terra Therma). I usually am among the top dmg ranks and get some kills.

The 2xERLL 4ML JESTER build is usually better, but 3xPPC 2ML is definitely fun to play ^^ (and deals pinpoint dmg ;) )

The two merely use a different scales to represent the same thing is all. MWO uses a 2-point rating system, while Smurfy's uses a percentage.

I've had a great deal of success with the ERLL/ML build, but I'm finding this build lacks the burst damage needed to compete against higher skilled opponents. So I'm thinking of going back to a 2PPC/4 ML build. I'll need to drop the AMS and downgrade the engine in order to keep 19 DHS though.

Now that I assume most of you have also mastered your Jesters, does anyone have any better ideas? I really love this mech, I just wish it had more punch.
