Everytime I try to update MWO I get the message that, "the servers are undergoing maintanence. Try later."

Is this a bug?

Edit: Yes, it is a Bug. I tried flushing the DNS cache, but no change. Tried using the Repair Tool and it says, "The servers are currently unavailable. Try again later."

I would reinstall, but I don't think it would help.

OK. Was wondering if it was the servers or my computer. Seems like alot of server issues though.

I ran the repair tool and it updated / replaced ... well pretty much everything. After that, the game was updated and all worked as expected.

Tried to update my sons PC this morning....The games auto-updater still thinks the server is in maintenance. :)

Quick update: I changed my DNS server from the old Earthlink server (207.69.188.185) to Google (8.8.8.8) and now everything works fine.

I am still unable to connect to server since the patch. I tried to play with the DNS server as mentioned, but it did not help... I used the repair tool, and it gave me the same problem of unable to connect to server. So I tried to uninstall it and reinstall... same problem, unable to connect to server. Any other ideas/help???

No change yet for me. Servers still udergoing Maintenance is all that happens..... what's the command prompt to flush the DNS cache? ipconfig/flushdns I'll try that and get back.

Okay, used command line ipconfig/flushdns and it cleared to cache, but still no update so this is not the answer to the BUG.

Yes, when I use nslookup prompt it gives, rns1.earthlink.net 207.69.188.185 as the ip address. How do you change that to Google 8.8.8.8 ?

Still no change. Servers Offline for Maintenance on both Updater and Repair Tool.

Also, it is only MechWarrior Online that is affected. Everything else connects to the internet with no problem. MWO is also not blocked from connecting to the internet so it is something that changed with MWO's servers.

So, just to rule out anything on my end I did a system restore to 10/31 and no change. Still says the Servers are undergoing Maintenance.

ipconfig/flushdns , yep did that first thing, resolver cache confirmed clear. I posted back that it didn't work, but thanks for advice anyway. You would think flush dns would fix it.

Server still says it's undergoing Maintenance on both the patcher and repair tool, by the way. So it's not a dns thing.

My ISP is Earthlink.net if that has any bearing on the BUG.

I have a similar problem.

Unlike others here, I was able to patch and start the game yesterday (Did not play any matches, just started the lobby, made changes to a mech loadout and logged out).

Today, I'm not able to start the game at all (tried several times in the last 10 hours). The game gives the "servers are currently undergoing maintenance" message. The repair tool gives a similar message.

I tried flushing DNS cache, but it did not help.

Well mine is patching now so hopefully that's fixed. I'll try launching later, after it patches.

It wasn't anything I did either. It was fixed server side.

Sorry, I must have glazed over when reading that part of this thread, shouldn't have missed it. :P

Maybe they made a dns change, and they use a cheap-*** DNS host that doesn't push proper updates. I wouldn't put it past them...

Yep, was right. WHOIS'd them and they use http://mediatemple.net/ for their DNS, with godaddy as their registrar. :P

Until a few minutes ago, I still couldn't connect to the game. I had to change my DNS server address to 8.8.8.8, as JClem suggested, to make it work. (I am also using Earthlink as my ISP).

Are you manually adding 8.8.8.8 in as your first DNS server entry, on your network connection?
