In the last two hours I have seen 2 Highlander 733Cs (different people in different matches) capable of doing 80+ damage alpha strikes.

My friend and I a have lost entire components on completely healthy heavy mechs to single hits. In one match I was hit twice. The first shot removed my healthy left arm. The second shot removed my healthy left Torso.

It is my understanding that your Internal structure = Max Armor x 1.5. So that a healthy component with 40 armor would have 100hp total.

How then does one lose an entire arm in one shot? I would like to know what is going on.

Its max armor * 0.5

So an 40 armor arm has 20 structure, making it 60 points total...

A HGN 733C can hold an AC20 + 2 Large Pulse Lasers + 3 SRM6 maximum that means 20+21.2 pinpoint damage + SRMs

So if he fires an Alphastrike only 5 of the 18 SRM need to hit your arm to destroy it.

I think everything is working as intended, you should also consider that this Highlander is 30 tons heavier than your Mech...

Stop carrying ammo in those locations.

An AC/20 + 2 PPCs + 3 SRM6 would deal 20 + 20 + 36 dmg (total of 76) and the 36dmg from the SRMs would probably be spread out even with Artemis installed. This loadout is also very heavy, as most Highlanders that carry a heavy ballistic and 2 heavy energies are not packing a full compliment of SRMs.

It's also possible that you're being hit by multiple enemies simultaneously.

ammo explosions, crits, gauss explosions can all cause it.

That said i still see front torso damage occasionally when stripping Atlas rear armour with my locust. so it could be a case of a double hit issue which was problem a while back.

^--- this is correct

Also: ammo-explosions (or gauss'splosions) travel "inwards" when the component is destroyed, from leg to center torso or arm to side torso. 1 ton of exploding AMS-ammo can seriously ruin your day...

What 'mech were you piloting ? Did you have max-armor ? Were you hit in your front or back (of the torso)?

If you answer these with "An Atlas, yes, front." you have stumbled on some kind of bug, probably.
If your answers are something like "A Cicada, maybe, don't know." tough ti*s, man. What are you doing directly taking on a HGN anyway...

I also just experienced a weird match. Having full armour of 52 on my arm, I lost it to like 1 hit in 1 second... That would have been 78 damage from an enemy nowhere near me. That can't be right.
Another match with 32 armour on the arm, I also lost it the same way in shot. And again no enemy Mech near me to inflict 48 damage...
I'm inclined to call "bug" here... :/

At the time I was in a Thunderbolt 5SS with a strictly energy build. I was running perpendicular to the direction of fire between buildings on River City Night.

I have had it happen again recently on my Jester too. Mech parts falling off as soon as the armor fails like I have no internal structure.

^This.

3 hunchbacks and a commando firing at a Cataphract at the same time. Goes from completely unscathed to dead instantly.

Maybe it was some weired lag problem.
I had a match where i was cored with one hit by a twin gauss (with some Medium Lasers) in my Cataphract. I asked in chat how that was possible and he answered, that he did hit me with 2 alphas. Since i know the other pilot i trust him that he did tell the truth.
On another match i did core a stalker with 3 alphas from my AC40 jager. The
pilot of the stalker did report me for cheating because he was absolutely sure i just did hit him once. Some other Player in my team had a Video of the game and you could clearly see that i scored 3 clear alpha hits.
First one was in the tunnel on Frozen City, second one was in the tunnel on River City. Both cored mechs standing or nearly standing.
Rare events, but it happens.

In 12vs12 premade matches this has happened to my team as well. In one instance one of our BLRs with undamaged CT recieved 1 AC-20 hit to the centre (no ammo there of course!) and got cored instantly. After action screen allegedly revealed that the damage came solely from an AC-20 and the player claimed it was only one round which took him out on the spot.

I'm leaning to a bug as explanation but there are 1-2 teams out there which have a high ratio of these "bugs" when we drop against them, could also be a hack of some sort. I dont know and refrain from posting names here.
