While I do not condone a TK or any sort of FF as a response, there is no good reason to ever re-arrange lances in a pug. Trying to put similar mechs in the same lance does not increase combat effectiveness unless you are all in voice comms together. Until we get integrated VOIP, just resist the urge.
The pack of lights isn't a bad idea, but otherwise, yes, I agree, it's not a big deal. Still, ask first, as I've played in a few balanced 4 mans where it was nice to know where the light was.

It's toll free greifing with no risk AND you can get to report the players you trolled if they TK you.

Simple dont take lead, dont move people, dont bother trying to give orders to a pug game.
IF you really really want to be a leader get yourself into 12v12 premade teams and lead away.

All the ******* time. Select commander, and the moment you move a player in a lance, (or even just select a commander position), you get babies screaming about their 'premade'.
Just now, I joined a game, selected commander, and moved another JM6 into my lance to keep it even.
Without warning, asking to change it, or even giving me chance to respond, two battlemasters turned around, tk'd me straight away, and called me a ****** for 'messing with their premade'.
What the hell is this bollocks all about.
dont break up lances without asking first. i dont blame them. you dont have the right to break up peoples groups. they are in a group for a reason.

However, I just wanted to touch on the part I quoted. And mainly because it's how I feel towards taking command. I haven't taken command because I don't see myself as a tactical expert, but I feel like it's assumed that if I would, people would judge me that I think I am some kind of tactical wizurd. I'm not. And the main reason I would take command is to try it and learn how to be better, and NOT because I think I am any good. So, when/if I do take command, don't think I see myself as an expert. I'm just someone who wants to have a go at playing a different role. Yes, I am saying that my confident/self-esteem at commanding is quite low. The responsibility is rather high, and it seems as though everybody kind of looks down at the commander like employees would about the safety inspector or their supervisor. What makes a good commander is knowing the skills and abilities of your team - part of the reason why commanding pugs will always be pretty much... useless.
In that same breath, however, another reason why I have not assumed command is because the UI for commanding is not good at all. It's very clumsy, hard to navigate, and I feel like there isn't enough information given to command effectively and accurately. Touching back to my previous point about commanding is useless if you know nothing about your teams abilities/skills, I think it may be required to see the ELO, or some kind of "Match Score" type of ranking to see each players potential - but I suppose that will be taken care of when the leveling system is put in place, edit: as long as it's visible to the commander

I'm also all for redoing how we drop into a match anyway; so that new players can hopefully have a better experience if casually dropping solo and maybe allowing for a different feel in matches.
So what about having one default option where players drop solo only, keeping the current ability moving players around and so on, hopefully a more casual experience since everyone's solo in such matches?
Then have a second launch option where anyone can drop solo or in a group 2-12, and no sorting since groups are prearranged before hitting Launch. The adjust and refine from there as needed.
