The "Cure" to about 90% of what's "wrong" with MWO is to stop whining and complaining every time someone beats you because they use things like tactics, strategy, and teamwork.

Especially true because light mechs are hardly OP and can be easily destroyed by a group of heavy/Assault mechs with decent marksmanship and decent internet pings.
I have never needed a group of heavy/assaults to kill me in a Light Mech

1) They sacrifice engine size for weapons. Bigger engines provide better torso twisting and faster speeds, so you can deal with lights better.
2) Pinpoint damage is litterally hit or miss. Lights can be worn down by hitscan weapons pretty well. A few MLs can ward off many lights.
3) You're not as good of a shot as you think. I've run lights against good 12 mans, and they can be deadly with the ACs even if you're moving well. Most people aren't as good of a shot as they think they are, and miss more often that they think they do.
4) Panic. It's easy to panic if you're in a light swarm. If you don't panic, you can often ward them off or take them out.
5) Don't get caught alone. No mech should be alone, as it's when you're most vulnerable. Sure, it will happen from time to time, but be aware of when you do it and why. Lone mechs are what wolfpacks love.
6) In PUGs, you sometimes don't have mechs that can handle lights. Usually in 4 mans I play in, we tend to have at least 1 mech who can deal with lights well. Be it a light hunting mech, or simply a build that can deal with the occasional light (I'm pretty good at dealing with lights in my Stalker 3F amazingly for example). You can always be part of the solution and take a mech like this.
7) Too many PUGs chase the lone squirrel. This is fun as a light, as you get 6 mechs to focus on your, and often hit eachother. If you can't handle a light, ignore it, or at least maneuver to prevent it from taking you out.
Forcing weight classes isn't a solution. With no real tonnage restrictions, players tend to gravitate towards larger mechs, so the result of that would be heavier mechs waiting longer to drop, or worse, drops not happening because not enough players are playing lights or mediums (or occasionally heavies). Eventually, there will be tonnage limits (though my guess would be not on every queue, probably more likely in CW related matches).

Until that wolfpack packs more than 1 ECM in which case your "5-streak2 Kintaro" becomes "pack lunch"...
And any Mech packing 5 SSRM2's should also carry BAP right?...

I'm starting to agree with this.
This community has a large section of single player gamers that are utterly offended at the fact this is MP only. They are so jilted by the fact that they make thread after thread of BS that could simply be adapted to.
I think clans could see a delay while they work on a single player campaign just to throw those peeps a bone and get them out of these discussions.
Though there are some serious players who PUG. They are a small minority but they are there. So a compromise for them would be a tonnage limit for premades, no limit for PUGs. That would even things up a bit.
As for a player getting torn to shreds by 4 light mechs.. 1v4.. working as intended.

Stop trying to force players to play the game you want. Not everyone will play this game how we want. So improvise adapt and overcome.
Yeah, this. Every time something happens that someone doesn't like, it seems like the first thing they do is come here and blame PGI and demand a fix. I've only seen a few other online game forums; none were quite this bad.
Lights are like any other mech: there is a skill/tactic set required to take them down. People don't like it because it takes a lot more time, aim, and effort to bring down an SDR than it does a AWS, (I don't know that I would call that "fair," but I don't think the only way to beat an SDR is to field an SDR, which is my definition of "broken.") and in return you get nowhere near the same DMG, but those wolf-packs are totally beatable.
I want tonnage limits (max n min). Not just for 12on12 and 4man prems. I mean for every match. I think an important aspect of both BT and MW was the idea that you had to make decisions and trade-offs. I'd like to see more thought and planning in a team's composition. But these light packs are not the reason.

Use 4 mechs specificly designed to kill assaults and stop sucking!

1) LRMs are more effective against larger mechs
2) Speed can out flank assaults
3) Focus fire can pick them off quickly
4) Get them alone, as they're vulnerable solo.
Just a few real tips

but, but, but................
It's just easier to get on the forums and cry out to the devs in hopes that they'll somehow restrict other players' abilities to be better than I am!

LOL! I do love to see me a DDC on my Team when mine is Garaged. He/She helps me, sometimes without even knowing I am there, and I help him/her when that devilish wolf pack arrives. Symbiosis at its finest.

Wolfpacks are good at picking off stragglers and uncoordinated groups... not so much against a coordinated effort.
