It's really pretty simple, the crosshair should turn noticeably green (or something like that) when you're looking at a teammate to avoid some confusion when you're out there fighting. Especially on maps like frozen city where there's a lot of buildings to run around, it can be surprisingly easy to look for an enemy mech and unload on somebody because the enemy is right there but it turns out to be a teammate who was also looking for the enemy.

I realize the minimap is there, but the fact that the crosshair still turns red even on a teammate can be really misleading if an ally and the enemy are really close to each other, and I like it when the interface for games I play is clear with this sort of thing because I don't like getting teamkills.

This is a solid idea however I think situational awareness should be the skill worked on to not kill teammates.

It's not like I'm asking for friendly fire to be disabled, I just want it to be clearer if I have a teammate in my sights when they're really close to the enemy and I just turned a building or something.

I don't normally have problems with friendly fire.

Back then there was a bug with disappearing HUD, that was quite a hardcore mode lol.
You better always lock enemies and fore those with a red box around them. Just always press R.

I support this only because I choose to believe that the rise in friendly fire situations is due to a lack of situational awareness, and this would help alleviate that.

I'd also like to hear a "buzzer" type sound whenever you hit a friendly, like in Planetside 2. At least it gives you some feedback and you mentally go "oops my bad" when you hear it.

I like this idea. But, I think thereticule should flash blue when you hit a friendly. Or, even have Betty yell at you.

Allow me to ressurect this. I see there are a number of similar requests on the forum:

I think the best idea is to change the crosshair to a big blue X sign, when you point it at a friendly. It would be useful in close combat environments, when the blue "friendly" indicator hovering over teammates' heads goes off screen.
