New Module: Drone (UAV)

Similar to the current UAV the Drone is a Unmanned Arial Vehicle, but unlike the current UAV which is stationary the Drone flies off in a specific direction (Mech Facing) and scouts out to range where it then crashes to the ground (maybe doing minor damage).

The Drone would fly out to a range of 800m (easily adjustable) in a straight line away from the mech that fired it and then dives/crashes to the ground.

The Drone would scan the area below it out to a fixed width (50m to either side - could be easily adjusted). Any Mechs (or objects below would be picked up as if LOS to the mech.

Similar to the current UAV it would penetrate ECM.

Pilot Options:

Advanced Optics(or Sensors) Drone
The advance optic drone increases the scan range to either side, scanning a larger range below the Drone (increase of 50% to a range of 75m to either side - again this can easily be adjusted).

Advance Range(Efficiency) Drone
The advance range drone increases the range the drone would be able to fly out by 50% (again easily adjustable) allowing the drone to fly out to a range of 1,200m.

Notes:
  • The drone can be targeted and shot down, but because of it's speed (needs to be determined) would make it more difficult to hit (maybe streaks)?
  • Any targets would stay the normal "decay" rate for spotting a target, so other modules like Advance Decay module would allow the targets to be visible for a longer time. (though the launching mech would need this module).
  • Cool Effect: similar to the zoom window you could add a new window which would show what the Drone sees. Screen should be off center (not in middle of Hud).
  • The ranges/values can easily be adjusted, but would still need to make it a valuable tool.
  • Cool Effect: When the Drone crashes to the ground, maybe it explodes damaging anything in a 10m range? If by chance it hit a mech upon crashing to does all damage to mech.
  • Can be blocked by mountains/caves/buildings which if the drone is flying over may not detect objects, or if it hits the object would destroy the object short of flight. Though if this too hard to implement (it's not blocked/destroyed).

Be better to make it slower moving and fly in an upward arc to prolong flight time. Or better yet, the ability to open the tactical map and choose a destination grid for it to monitor. As suggested, I would never use it.

Take it one step further...

Make it a "semi-pilotable" drone with effective flight-time of maybe 30 seconds... with 200m horizontal scan azimuth. All targets detected are exposed / displayed to all teammates and target decay is equivalent to normal decay.

This way it becomes an effective spotting / scout tool, but not too OP to draw cries of P2W...

Oh, and allow it to be flown into a target ... kamikaze-like for a damage output of 25 points.

a drone or helicopter squad that scans a 2x8 map section straightup & down in 1 pass relaying target info for 15 seconds after detection or so would be cool.

This is what 3pv should have been. you slot for a drone based advantage that's target-able but with a cool down. new players can orient them selves because the player has it for free in the first 25 matches and it cant be killed. then the training wheels come off and its destroyable. beter vertions can be purchased for mc.

but 3pv is really about the console player. i wonder if the console player will use it since it sucks.... over all 3pv was not worth the drama it cause. now players have lost there fire button bindings.... ooo good move PGI.
remember the target audience is on x-box live.

so much potential lost for something that is marginally effective at its intended use.

IN the flight path, I assume it would of performed some sort of "arc" where it flew up at an angle and then came back down. Not flying off in a straight line from your current height.

I think it would be too complicated to pass over control to a "flying" view, because what if you are running along and then launch the drone, you could easily run out of bounds or such while off controlling the drone. So strongly disagree with this.

I do like the option of opening the map and pointing in the direction, but I really dont see the extra advantage of just have the mech facing (pointing) in the specific direction to launch. Especially compared to giving over flight to control.

As for the ranges, I believe I suggested most of them should be "adjustable" to increases/decreases depending on balance. 30 seconds of flight could easily cross have of Tourmaline without obstacles, which I feel would be a too far.

As long as players are able to shoot it down I likes the idea
