The Jester is actually fairly decent at midrange fire support, being fast and maneuverable enough to stay away from brawlers while laying down solid firepower. It's a lot more fun than playing ridgehumping peekaboo/poptart sniper, too.

4 LL
2 ERLL 4Mlas
2PPC 4Mlas
2Lpulse 4Mlas
6 Mpulse.
None of them are that outstanding, I feel bad for people that purchased this mech.

All in all, it's not bad. If you're a Catapult fan, particularly a K2 fan who longs for jump jets, it's great.
It's still a Catapult, of course, so if you don't like them then obviously it's not going to appeal.
Edit: For clarity, I certainly wouldn't buy it to use it competitively, but anyone playing competitively would know that before they bought it anyways. It's a perfectly cromulent pugmech.

Pretty much enough firepower and speed to engage at whatever range the pilot wants. I could see it as a decent striker/multi-role machine.

@ TC: Just make it a fast harasser, with a bunch of ML to melt face in emergencies (or when you are chasing down a lighter mech).

The important thing for Jester pilots to remember is drive into to rubble pile of their victim and do a couple short bunny hops/twists to show them they got wrecked by the ugliest mech in the game.

If I get carried away and Rambo into battle it's not very survivable, but zoom in, unload damage, and loop around to hit from another angle. And I painted it all black, I was worried the visible mouth would make my cockpit easier to aim at.

Oh and its speed is decent.

You know, it can actually look pretty badass with the right colours. I thought it was horrendously ugly as well, but since then I've seen a few that actually look pretty dangerous and awesome. You just need to make it not look like a clown; it's not so hard, really, as the pattern is actually pretty snake-like.

Ok, I won't argue that it's a great mech, but worse than the pretty baby? Yeah, that's a touch of an exaggeration.

I've killed a number of jesters that have had to retreat instead of fight because they are too hot to fire the next volley, at the moment any mech using ballistics has a real advantage over the jester.

It's noticeably less than the K2 which causes me all sorts of problems while fighting, especially when tracking targets with lasers only to "Clank" into your max torso twist range.
it can be frustrating and my performance drops because of it.

Sure, no argument here. It's not what I'd call a really competitive mech, but it's absolutely usable. It's not a great mech, but that doesn't make it a terrible one. It's definitely not like the Pretty Baby

I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I'll have to disagree with that statement.
For me it has so far outperformed my Ilya Muromets, Flame, Death's Knell, Pretty Baby, X-5, Dragon Slayer, Golden Boy, Protector and Boar's Head.
It hasn't exceeded my Misery, Heavy Metal, Wang or Firebrand, but I do expect it to catch up some - now that I'm not trying to make it work in a brawl anymore. It's pretty hard to fail with high mounted PPCs and JJs.
