How To Salute Your Opponent In Mwo

There are a lot of different way to greet your opponent in a Friendly and Sporting way.
Some people just say hello
some say greetings from their perspective units
But one of the Most common Practices you will see is a Salute
and there are a number of Salutes being used by the Mechwarriors out there
and I would like to Address them individually and present the one I use.
First there is the very basic <S> Kind of like programing language S for salute a Emote no one can see. I personally do not like this one because i am a visual person and like the Ingenious Pictures people can create with letters and numbers and symbols etc.
Second there is the More ingenious O7 where the O is your head and the 7 is the arm and hand making a Salute. I think this was very nice attempt at making a salute but this is flawed. because you type something for the other person to read when you look at he O7 on your screen it looks like they are trying to salute with their left hand. It would be the right hand if you were looking at the back of your head, but you are not saluting yourself so you must be aware of the perspective of the onlooker. he Sees O7 you are saluting him with your left arm.
which in Military terms your are Showing disrespect to your opponent by using the left arm.
Good try Bad Form.
Also with the O7 you are not assuming the proper arm placement for a proper salute, I suspect that a non-Military person created this salute because they did not know any better.
A proper salute your arm and hand are straight from the elbow to the tips of your fingers.
the 7 makes it look like you are saluting with a bent or broken wrist (there is a joke in that i am not going to repeat) so I will never use this salute Wrong and Wrong and Disrespectful.
Third So I come to my Final Salute this is the one I use to Honor my opponents and Begin a Good game of Mechwarrior. <o This is what you will see when i post it in game you see your opponent saluting you with their right hand arm and hand straight. Proper salute and not disrespectful.
Thank you for reading this post and if you have served in a Military you know what i am saying is true. Please let your Units know how to salute properly, lets not allow this O7 to continue without proper education.
Some people just don't know what they are doing, and trhink that they are giving proper greetings trying to be the good guy and doing what is right. so I do not fault them for that. It just irritates me when I see a left handed Salute from a Player who is Playing a Mechwarrior who would know the proper way to salute.
Again thank you for your additional input.

Personally, I do not care about any form of salute, for we are all mechwarriors, fighting for the glory of our nations or for money to support our lifestyle. If someone greets me directly, I'll respond in a friendly manner. But I dropped to fight and not to chat.

correct. which is why we use it. when Mariks run into Mariks, theres gonna be a nasty fight. so we 07. GG is reserved as a sign of respect after a good fight. theres never a reason to salute an enemy before you pug stomp them.

I like that idea. How about every person who salutes causes ten extra seconds in the ready screen and15% increase in ghost heat.
