Well last of my 20 games on river city ended in caprace. Its getting really annoying

Team at spaceship goes upper because its safer......

Team at docks goes lower because its safer.......

Nobody wants to turn around because they want to stick with the team and not die .

"Yes I know you can see the entire team walking on river city!"

Isn't that why teams go in opposite direction ? Nobody wants to stay by himself and fight 10 mechs?

It is because maps like River City (and Mordor) provide excellent cover all the way to the enemy base. And the only thing mechwarriors like more than shooting each other is hiding from each other.

1) I would ask people to defend but random players don't always listen .

2) If i do that i will end up splitting team in half and we will loose .

I read this as "River City always carapace." That would have been a lot more interesting- mechwarriors banding together to fight a giant enemy crab.

Oh yay!!!!!, ANOTHER post complaining about capping.....

This is some part of evil trick or treat prank right? You're about to shower us with candy after subjecting everyone to another repetitive post about how capping is "ruining and destroying" the game right? Right....? I don't see any candy though.... :)

Really? Now I KNOW this is some sort of trick. Every single game? Not a single game ever has resulted in deaths other than 0-1 deaths? Yet I'm the one getting called ignorant...?

Just FYI, irony isn't a GNC supplement

I also love how any time someone posts a poll and the poll goes against the fact opinions of the poster they ignore the poll from there on out, but the minute the poll results results agree with them they do nothing but point and show it off. lol

Working as intended. Bad players letting themselves get capped, nothing to see here folks. Move along....

People tend to get into cap races because those people tend to run into the exact same positions every game, despite of how it turned out for them previously.

Like C4 on Forest Colony. It's like a freaking magnet for folks, despite the fact that it's basically just a fishbowl. Folks run there every game, and always die, and have seemingly no ability to connect the two events in their minds.

Same goes for cap races on River City. If you don't want to get into a cap race, then don't run around the edge of the map. Don't go water from the low side, and don't go across the bridge from the high side.

"Individuals may be smart, but people are dumb, stupid, panicky animals" B)
If people cannot figure out that the bigger gun is not always the better one, do you really expect them to figure that subtle of a thought out?

Here is another one: it has been my observation that the 'swarm' usually follows the first person out the gate (usually being a key word)
You don't like how the 'swarm' operates?
BE the first one out.
LEAD them in the direction you wish.
Exceptions to every rule of course, and works much much better if you have a 3-4 man team.
If nothing else, spam R and light them up - the playerbase knows they earn more for actual combat than a generic win, so if they see multiple enemies off in another direction, they will at least attempt to fire some ordinance that way.

But is so much easier to just follow the group and/or whine, and that is what the 'swarm' thinks the forums are for: so that is what we will continue to see. :)

You're totally right about folks following the swarm.. I've tried to use that to my advantage and lead folks somewhere less terrible on occasion.

On a lot of maps though, like Caustic from the lake side, the pug mentality seems to just be "Walk directly in the direction I was facing when I was spawned."

Actually it's Mechwarrior Online not Assault OR Cap Warrior Online. Just wanted to help you out since you seem to be a bit misinformed.

Every single time I read "CapWarrior", I figure the following is true:

1) Scouting must be overrated, so just ignore every possible method to mechs to cap the base (can't blame that hole in the wall for mice mysteriously popping in and out of the kitchen).

2) The player is almost always piloting something heavy.

3) Lights should immediately die from a death stare, while the OP/player should only be carrying the most short range weapons ever.

This thread is bad, and the OP should feel bad.

Semi-proof:

This match was a caprace:
Posted Image

The enemy team was trying to cap us out, and they failed to cap. I told everyone to RTB at some point during that cap. I got there just barely in time to stop the cap and a bunch of guys including myself died to stop the cap.

It still ended up a 12-5 win.

So please, before you whine further about capping, please use your brain and stop playing the "it's lame to cap" card. It doesn't fly if you are simply not that good.

Well done. College education finally paying off.

River City ain't what it used to be with pug teams running straight for the cap each time.
