This would be why I look at XP earned. You get XP for spotting, killing, damage, component destruction, savior kills, defensive kills, kill assists, and more. Maybe I didn't get a lot of damage but instead of hammering it out with an Atlas toe to toe I ran back to our base and killed the guy capping it. Well, I got bonus XP for a Defensive kill. XP seems to be the best measurement of how much you contributed. Saviour Kills and Kill Assists mean you were with your team and shooting the right targets.
