After playtesting and goofing around, I present to you, the surrogate Urbanmech, SDR-UM, a customized SDR-5k Spider.

SDR-UM

It's not fast, it's only tough, but it mounts an AC/10 in an arm and jump jets and is a VERY viable mech build.

The key to using this mech to it's best damage potential is to learn to play with your arms unlocked from your torso. Without much speed to get you out of trouble, you're going to have to poptart and aim quickly. 2 tons of ac/10 ammo is going to be enough to help your team a large amount, though you certainly can't win a fight on your own after it's all gone. Single heatsinks are a must for this loadout, because you won't have the slots to get to the minimum 10 with the ferro fibrous and endo steel. It's not much to worry about when you still are doing damage with the AC/10 but the small laser will overheat your mech when it's all you're down to.

I've been running a similar build on my 5K for the last couple of days. Although your version has more armour than mine, I have a Mlas "just in case".

Very fun build to mess around with. The, shall we say, displeasure that it generates among teammates is almost rivalled by my stint in the dual AC20 Cicada.

Ideally needs an Atlas or similar fire-magnet to hide behind, sneaking out to go BOOM and skulking back behind your shield team.

Kinda easier to do this in a RVN 4X.

People kinda expect it in a Raven 4X. No one expects an AC10 Spider.

You could drop the heat sinks and one JJ, lower head armor to 5 and go for an XL 200. This doubles your speed.

Speed is not the point. I'm trying to replicate driving an Urbie here. If I could get down that low I'd be running a standard 60.

Yeah, if I recall the stock speed of the Urbie was the blistering rate of...

32.4kph.

I just remember in MW2 Mercs where they give you the Stalker. Step 1 destroy the 2 tanks. Step 2 headshot Urbie.

And then rip off the Panther's arm.

Slight knitpick: Urbie only has 2 JJs.

Having said that, you might be a bit better off stripping some armour off the left arm & head to max the armour on the legs.

Something like this might be a little more true to the original.

The urbie will get your hair blowing in the breeze at 40KPH elited deathtrap! You need 8 of them huddled in river city to be useful. JMHO!

I would love to drop a 12-man of just urbie-spiders. Everybody powers down behind the boat on River City and just waits for the cap, then poptart magic happens.

Add FF and you can max the armor.

The OP was trying to stay as close to the actual Urbanmech build as possible. The only reason for including Endo-Steel was because the engine is much larger than the UM's is, and so the additional weight needed to come from somewhere.

Ah, my bad. I thought the Urbie had max armor on it. It's been awhile, my memory is fuzzy on the little trash can mech.

I built one on my one from my old elited spider 5K (I was bored of it so I never used it) on my own with more MWO-optimized systems (an extra ton of ammo, stripping armor on the unused left arm and torso). Because I was so small no one saw the AC10 shots coming and I managed to kill a lance in one game with well placed opportunistic shots. I even brawled a Victor by melting a slightly damaged right torso down with sustained fire.
In short, they should REALLY add the urban mech in so I can enjoy an even smaller silhouette for this mech. How hard is to model a small walking trashcan with an AC10 arm anyway?
