Currently, the enemy mech has to die on the base in order to reward a Defensive Kill Bonus. In practice though, the enemy mech is much more likely to be off the base when he dies to the defender. They are either running away when things get hairy, or they are circling the base structure and weaving in and out of the base square.

I suggest we loosen the requirements to be if the enemy dies after being on your base within 10 seconds, you are rewarded a defensive kill bonus. Sacrificing for your team to save your base isn't all that glamorous. We need to do more to reward selfless players.

I'm unsure how this reward works in Conquest, but if it's problematic, you could make the improved version Assault mode only.

Good idea, perhaps the defensive bonus could just apply to any enemy mech destroyed within say 150 meters of the capture point, or if the mech had been in the cap point within the previous 30 seconds or something

Both good ideas.

Or even scale it as to how close they are to a max range of 150m.

Currently these are so rare, I don't think most people know they even exist. I whole heartedly agree with your suggestion. If the enemy was on the base/resource or was on the base/resource sometime within 10 seconds of them dying, reward with defensive kill.

Great ideas. Further point.... make it so you can't earn a savior kill + defensive point and make defensive point over turn savior kills. This would also help with conquest issues a little and re-emphasize the importance of defense.

I like the timer idea better. If a mech has been on the base within the last 30 seconds or so (as Capper suggested). A really fast mech could put 150 meters in between themselves and the base in just a couple of seconds which would negate the idea of the boost here.

Not to disagree with you (cause I agree with the timer thing), but if a light mech puts that many meters between themselves and the base, they usually get away.

I like the idea to improve the defense kill bonus.
I think 10 seconds after he left the base would be enough though.

Depends. LRMs, Good sniper with Gauss, ER LL, LL, etc. will get a few shots off and if they already got chewed up while on the base it won't take much to take them down especially in something like a Locust
