Would someone with the proper permissions please post a pinned topic in FAQs with the updated max alpha penalties?

Setting aside anyone's feelings regarding the max alpha system (also referred to as ghost heat), I think everyone would agree that players should know the number of weapons they can fire simultaneously without incurring the heat penalty. I believe the most current information can be found at http://mwomercs.com/...cale-the-maths/.

However, the chart displayed does not let players know which weapon systems are combined for purposes of a max alpha penalty. For instance, someone who hasn't scoured the forums would logically conclude that PPCs and ERPPCs are treated as separate weapons systems because they are listed separately, which is not the case. Heck, I'm a regular on the forums and I can't recall whether pulse lasers are grouped with their regular laser counterparts.

Tl;dr: please post an up-to-date chart detailing which weapons are subject to max alpha penalties.

Thank you for the information.

While I appreciate that Smurfy offers a nominal solution, I really don't think players should have to look on a third-party site to understand a major game mechanic.

Edited for politeness.

No disagreement. However, Smurfy is such an astonishingly wonderful tool many of us have it open all the time anyway. The data is there and constantly updated. You should use it.

Problem being people like me, for whom smurfy doesn't load well (for who-knows what reason )
I will put some time into building a chart (and seeing if I can come up with an ***** fool proof explanation) for Ghost Heat... that would give me something to do till the next time I can haul my heavy-faced computer to the interweb-cords :P

Maybe something like... when you fire a weapon it pulls from your engine (aka the power plant) when you draw power for more than so many of a single weapon type it overloads the plant's systems..... (definitely gonna need some work... but I think I can drag that thought into the right direction ;))

Edit: of course they censored the word I d i o t

Basically the same as in the official thread though, I am theorizing something to put into the "New Player" part of the forums, since that is where (I would assume) a lot of the people who would get confused by it would head.

Especially as so few people are willing to 'read the manual' or patch-notes for that matter, but will ask in this part of the forum

(Yet another aspect of humanity that greatly confuses me   ;))

It really is amazing how well Smurfy did with his Mech Lab and other info pages. Smurfy, if you ever read this, thank you.

I like where you're going with this. Eventually, a Moderator should pick up your chart and pin it in New Players or FAQs.

Not really sure new players would fully understand this complex mess.

Or are you just looking for a table like the following?

I don't want to downvote other people's posts nor advertise my own blog, but I think tables like the following are not helpful at all for almost every skill level, especially beginners:
