Eh, this game was pretty good for what it was in Open Beta, not much has really changed though.
I mean new maps, woo there's been four released in the last 12 months?
New mechs though, I mean they certainly have quite the variety since when I started playing in closed Beta. It's just too bad old ones have been shelved and new ones collect dust at the mech depot because they fill no role that another mech doesn't fill better.
Balance, oh dear. Don't anyone try to defend the slow and heavy handed practices that we have seen not to mention the failures of internal testing before these balances were shoved out.
The economy is pretty terrible. Unless you're using a meta build or with a group that is better yet filled with meta builds, you're not going to make very many c-bills even with premium. I mean i have myself a nice wad to blow at the mech dealership to master a couple mechs I've never touched but man, these new players are going to be surprised after their first 25 matches.
Gameplay, it's still fun but becomes follow the leader too often because of the benefits that come with being within 300 meters of every friendly mech in the match. Focus fire, ect. Severe weight mismatches where bringing a medium is a liability more often than not. This kills the fun. Really this game could benefit from little soldiers and tanks that would be a significant force to the extent where loadouts would shift from the extreme of dedicated mech killers to a more balanced loadout to deal with these minor but significant threats. Not ever going to happen however.
Promises, broken and delayed. While not exclusive to PGI, they have broken and delayed more than their fair share.
Really all this game has going for it is the gameplay when both teams aren't grossly filled with heavies and assaults and the mechbay customization. Otherwise it has been handled very disappointingly in just about every other aspect.
