Isn't that the only reason why we still play this game? PGI did so many things wrong, but one thing they did damn right.

Yup. That's the only reason I still stick around. Big stompy robots are fun. I just want more content to actually feel like I'm doing something within the game rather than just deathmatch all day for the past two years.

When do you people learn that high damage is not everything?

You can deal massive amounts of damage just with some streaks but it will be spread all over the enemy mech. Same for the LB-X (have to say i LOVE the LB-X): You damage everything for 1 Point of damage, not more (crits aside).

What you want is not getting the top damage score. What you want is win and second top killing.

Killing is the only thing that impacts the outcome of a match. I have matches with my yen-lo-wang with 6 kills but not even 250 damage.

And no, not kill stealing. AIMING! Hitting where it counts! Not evenly scratching paint off a mech.

And one last thing, no offense but you are 2 month into the game so i doubt you arrived in any higher elo brackets.

Play some more month and I doubt you'll get these numbers with that build ever again.

I really agree with the whole aiming thing. Too many times I have seen people chain fire their weapons firing without any real aiming and just spreading the damage around uselessly. Dealing 100 points of damage and killing your opponent is much better than 300-400 points of damage and killing them.

On a side note for the new players; did you know that a single Gauss round to the rear side torso will kill a Locust? 15 damage and you remove an enemy that can cap damage and kill teammates. So the lesson to learn, is to find out the quickest way that you can kill each mech and aim for it when you face them (example: aim for the cockpit of a Catapult).

Mine CTF-4X now looks like this: 255std, 2xAC10, ERLL.
Im not much into brawling yet, so med range build.

I had 3xAC5, 2ML before, nice heat effi - AC linked if enemy unaware, chained, if he is looking, good for forcing ppl back to cover, but not a killer...
Dual AC10 RLY hurts, esp if u catch someones rear or jump allready occupied ppl.
ERLL bcs i hate being useless at long range and i find it better against med to long range moving targets (many ppl stop to check what hit them, then they get the real pain...
Lights are CTF-4Xs nightmare. Unless they are stupid to get shot with ACs or u get lucky, bcs laser in CT is HARD to aim up close:( To be honest as Heavy mech pilot i hate lights in general - i mean in the right hands light mechs like spiders and jenners seem to me as most powerfull units out there... Esp ECM ones...
Im thinking about 255XL engine to accomodate SSRM2 and AMS(+more AC10 ammo:)) So it has something against its worst foes - missiles and lights... Altough worried about XL in a slow mech...
