Spiders still rock! team won 6 of of 7 matches die only one time 2nd to last mech standing in that one. In one match that had two disconnects form the start, dueled a dragon that had atlas support had to shoot off both his arms before killing him dang he was fast, then went to work on the atlas. For some reason he was LRM snipping then helping the dragon so repaid kindness and cored it. The dragon pilot was whining in chat that the spider hit box is still broken lol nope bad aim. Fear the spider! Hate the spider! The spider is not nerfed EZ kill some were hoping it would be

^ This.
You just need to adapt your tactics to be more like the other lights. I play mine like a Jenner/Locust Hybrid with ECM, because that's exactly what it is.
You can no longer zig-zag through enemy formations and hang around tanking ungodly damage, but that just makes it more fun. In situations like that, hit and run is the name of the game. Knowing when to switch your ECM from Disrupt to Counter so you can sneak up on enemies helps a great deal (thanks for posting that, Koniving!).
One on one with heavier mechs, it still rocks. Just ask the Highlander pilot I played last night on Forest Colony

I still love the spider and agree it's not an 'EZ kill' but it is easier to kill. I had a few games after the patch to test the survivability and it's still good, but you just can't expect to keep your legs against fighting 5 to 1.
In my opinion they did a good balancing act with the patch.

Yup.
Not playing my spiders last night but dropped with Mouser42 a couple of times by random Pug. He rocked the kazbah both times I saw him. Looking forward to getting my Spiders out again once I have finished up this Lo- cost.
Haven't looked at the forums as a whole yet today but I wonder if the "QQ spiders are still broken" threads have started. If not now they will sooner or later.
Fact: A well played mech of any weight class is damn'd tough to drop if your not also well used to dealing with its strengths.
In the case of lights and spiders especially, YOU NEED A STEADY AIM. Now if Spiders at last Register all fair hits then they are balanced, and any further difficulty you have with them is (sadly) your own problem!
(Emphasis added for the benefit of those that might think I am a mindless Spider defender)
