per http://naturalpointo...ompetition.html they could do what IL 2: Cliffs of Dover did. .

Several developers have avoided encryption by not using the latest TrackIR SDK provided to them and identifying as an older game version (including IL2: Cliffs of Dover and rFactor 2). The Cliffs of Dover game manual even advertises this as a feature and TrackIR is not referred to by name; 'More advanced players may consider using a head-tracking device or webcam software' (p68). Developers only given the encrypted SDK may be able to avoid encryption by removing the decryption function call in the SDK example code and identifying as a game without encryption, for example using the ID for IL2 (1001).

Bump, haven't heard anything on this in a while.
Still looking forward to it being implemented, and hopefully real release dates or info on when it will be patched in.

It seems that this debate has been going on for two years with zero progression. Devs please, even crappy or ancient games like Bus Simulator / F1 Challenge 99-00 have TrackIR support, would be fantastic if MWO had that too.

Apologies I can't look it up right now, however, if you use the Dev tracker I know one of the Devs ( Karl Berg maybe?) mentioned working on TrackIR support a few weeks ago.

I'll attempt to look it up later tonight if no one else has linked it by then.

Cheers

Edit: Nevermind. Had a free moment and found it. http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__3261964

Update.

Karl Berg mentions that the implementation of TrackIR is finished and waiting to be tested.

Russ's AMA suggested that we may see TrackIR support as early as the June 3rd patch.

Any idea if it will support free track?

A little birdy also told me the same :P

I doubt freetrack will work since it's a new implementation of TrackIR and NaturalPoint has been clamping down on that lately and they helped some with the installation.

(skip to 12:08 for TrackIR teaser)

NaturalPoint has released the AppID for MWO. Turn on your TrackIR clients and refresh the games list (near upper right corner), then it will be on there. :D

The best thing I can think of out of all this is that now, you can use an oculus rift for the screen with tridef 3d, and then use trackIR for all the head turning/rotation. Can't wait to get both of these and try some true immersion in MWO!

One: It seems I will never be able to use Oculus Rift because of my glasses and because I am sceptic because of the Facebook merge.

*One: I have very thick glasses with major prisms to correct my double vision. Its a tight fit, but I was able to get my glasses in there and look around. I'm using the A cups ( the ones that stick out further ) and it doesn't interfere with my glasses.

As a bonus, the new OR now comes with trackIR, so best of both worlds.

Still wish they would disable the encryption.

Star Citizen has TrackIR support and it's not even in Alpha yet.

C'mon PGI, it's been over two years since you said you'd be bringing in TrackIR support.

So did we end up getting TrackIR support in the end?

I asked 2 years ago, and 2 years ago before that.

I'm only asking, because I have a HTC Vive now, and I'll be asking about VR support next. :)
