I can definitely tell that I take more hits now, but it's still not where it should be. I still see a lot of shots hit me but not apply damage.
If you can no longer pilot Spiders it's because you were too reliant on them being broken, and now they are less broken than they were.
You either need to adapt and adjust, or stop piloting Spiders.
I'd agree if the hit boxes had a problem and needed fixing (which they might have). However, when you have fixes that involve making the Spider's chest and legs have larger hit boxes than visual graphics, there is a problem.
For more information, read my posts here: http://mwomercs.com/...d/page__st__420
That page and the page before had me going through and seeing where the hit boxes started and stopped. The easy picture though (may need to zoom in your screen a bit):

(Red lines are where the current hit boxes are (roughly). Blue lines are where the hit boxes roughly should be if they followed the graphics (with some simplification).) Fatter legs, Fatter chest (especially from the back).
However, I have not seen these changes effecting their play too much for myself, so for me this isn't bad. However, I suspect that once HSR and Hit Registry get fixed that this might make the spider harder to use than it should be...

Shhh, don't spoil it for them, they've been waiting months for this thread.
sure, troll OP is obvious troll. That said, it still makes a nice bully pulpit to speak truth to all the silly little boogers who are saying this very thing. And they are legion.

Spiders weren't anywhere near as badly broken as people think. People just can't shoot, and it's easier to blame the bugs in the game rather than admitting that they suck at playing it.

When you hit a spider thats standing still due to shutdown and hit it point blank in the face with an AC20 and its silhouette only flashes yellow then shows no damage taken then thats broken, look on the forums there are video's showing exactly this situation.

You either are in denial or have no clue what your talking about. Either way, you fail.

To be honest, I also don't notice too much of a difference with this patch. My tests show that there are a difference, but play wise it seems to effect the mech only minimally. I do notice the changes, but not all that much...
I think this patch with the Spider will effect some people more than others. It's going to depend upon each person's skills and how good they are with light mechs to begin with.

Read his entire post. My response was to the second paragraph.

Just providing some video evidence of HSR not working at it's worst.
PGI has to fix this.

Thing is, I agree with him. It wasn't the Spiders hit boxes per say that was causing the problems (or at least not all of them), but in fact HSR and Hit Registry that is the main cause of the problems. Combine that with the Spider's tall and thin profile, combine that with the Spider's speed (as far as HSR goes), combine that with Jump (as far as HSR goes)... the Spider was a focal point for the perfect storm of bugs in the game. You happen to see those problems the worst in the Spider not because of its hit boxes, but because of a lot of other factors that the Spider has and other light/fast mechs don't have. (Most light mechs are either short and squat, chunky (commando), and/or have a long side profile (Jenner, Raven, Locust.)
A lot of people complain about hitting the Spider and doing no damage when in fact they miss. Other times, they complain about hitting, and HSR looses the shot, making it a miss (bug). We shouldn't have to artificially inflate every light mech in the game because people can't hit them. Test it yourself on training grounds. Move your reticule over a target slowly around the edges, and see where it registers as being placed on the mech, and where on the background (look at the distance meter, the mech would appear to be closer). The Raven has Fat legs. The Locust might have Fat Legs too (haven't tested personally yet...). The Spider now has fat legs and torso. All this because the hit boxes are now invisibly larger.
Now, if there was a hole in the hit boxes, like the Jenner has in it's side torso under the arm and inside the shoulder, or what the Spider use to have with the hole near it's belly button, those need to be fixed. But over half the light mechs in the game have invisibly larger sections. This doesn't seem right to me.
However, for the Spider, I have not noticed these invisibly larger hit boxes to hinder my game play, nor have I noticed the Spider playing differently than before by any large margin. HSR still seems to be a problem, and people still can't keep a bead on a Spider to hit them well...
Actually, I have found that more of the damage seems to get spread around my torso section now, making my armor even more effective (instead of just one section getting hit, all three get hit, spreading the damage over all available armor). My Legs get hit slightly more often than before as well. And from the rear, my Spider seems to take damage from glances, so I just try not to show my rear anymore (the rear side torsos got the largest expanding invisible hot boxes on them. They actually are larger than the front hit boxes somehow. Test it. You will notice that from the front you only have a small invisible halo, about the side of the circle of your reticule. From behind, you have at least triple that for the halo hit box size).
