you are correct....unlock the color and you can use it on any mech, unlock the pattern and it's only for that specific chassis (unless it's the "single use" then it's just on that specific mech and will go away if you change to a different pattern)

I bought one of the Purples just so I can have a Purple besides the Basic one. It was one of the Premium ones, forgot which, heh. I had 3 yellows already from the last time they were on sale.

I got a purple and a yellow just to add to my collection aswell.
