These system requirements apply to the beta client. Work is underway to optimize the game
and to release the game will be the requirements below.

I think XP helps by not sucking all the power to run itself. Honestly, I run games well above this spec on 2.4 ghz, 4gig RAM, 8600GT, and things are . . . just fine . . . and we're talking flight sims here.
Do I have to crank the graphics down? Yes, quite a bit. Do I see frame rates under 60? Yes, yes I do. If I want to see highly realistic graphics, I look away from the computer.
Will I be able to run MW:O? I don't know, but probably it'll be just fine.
You and me both, my OS is the only thing I did not upgrade when I did a full system rebuild last year so aside from that it exceeds minimum requirements. As a side note there is a work-around to get XP to recognize terrabite HD's and to recognize more then 3.8 gb ram in 32 bit and 6-8 in 64 bit.
One other thing while Its not expensive to make a custom to meet the minumum requirements, if you have the peripherals and OS covered already but not everyone has the expertise or cash to custom build a 500$+ system so when certain posters on this thread blithely say "oh just build your own!" they need to realize computer skills dont grow on trees.

Thats what I'm counting on, beta never resembles the final product in requirements...I recall a game back int eh day by the name of Stalker that according to the early alpha requirements no one could actually play it changed by closed beta and changed again by open beta...final release was far more generous comparatively.

Usually its cheaper to buy seperate parts or build your own computer than it is to buy a stock one.

Unfortunately it won't run my monitor's native res fullscreen for some reason (I'd blame it on driver issues most likely, I haven't updated since 12.1 and they're on 12.4 or 5 now) so I only have Crysis 2 to judge that by. And I get ~40-65 fps with everything as high as it will go, occasionally dipping into the mid 30's when a lot of stuff happens on screen (ceph heavy charges you and building falls down at the same time is the lowest it's ever been for me). For reference, 2x 5850's get edged out by a high end 69XX and a midgrade enthusiast 78XX/79XX single card.

I wouldn't say that. When you're snapping Legos together you don't have to worry about accidentally frying an expensive piece of hardware if you connect a six piece to a four piece the wrong way. I'll agree that once you know what you are doing it is pretty simple, however there are many people who are intimidated by everything when they look inside their PC.

Now bear in mind, you don't need all the same parts (in fact, this is a nice machine by any standards. FAR and AWAY from the recommended specs, let alone the minimums...) and can get away with lower end/older parts in some cases
The only thing I would recommend to any person wanting to build something from scratch, would be to make sure that everything is compatible when it comes to sockets and slot types, as easy as matching a name on one spec sheet to the same name on another.
For example:
An AMD XXX1234 (made up) runs on the AM3+ socket, so you find an AM3+ compatible board. CPU -> mobo -> everything else.
My 0.02
Edit:
I'd also like to point out that unless you're buying things second-hand (a risky business in computer hardware) everything comes with an installation manual, a how-to manual and a quick start guide. RTFM people, RTFM

I'm running a laptop (I live overseas, I must have portable gaming, but still it sucks)
Windows 7
Intel i5 m520 (dual core) 2.4ghz will turbo/overclock to 2.9 ghz
Ati 5650 with 1gig dedicated memory
4 gigs ram....
I'm thinking min specs I can just squeak by allright. I do want to buy the founders pack but I want to make sure I can run it.
You think I should blow my cash?

Odd what are your system specs, I have a radeon 6990 = x2 6970 and its not putting out those kind of numbers. New drivers I have might not be great.
You aren't beating me with ram or proc.
Just have to E-pene. sorry yall.

Just go here http://www.systemreq...cyri/intro.aspx and see if your machine will pass to run Crysis 2

So i did what any self respecting pc gamer does, and bought a new rig. This is the first time in nearly 4 years im completely starting over and buying new everything and building it from the ground up. The fact that some of you can't run the game at its highest setting is perfectly acceptable, if you wanted to run this game on everyone's machine it would look like world of warcraft (and people complain that the major cities lag on their computers), upgrade your ****. Welcome to pc gaming.

Trying to 'change the F2P model forever' is all well and good so long as you have the vehicle to do it... Counterstrike did it because it could be played on a throw-together-never-maintain clapped out machine in an internet cafe. Because of that they were able to build on this with CS(Source Engine) and now CS:GO. But they have a proven F2P brand behind them.
Mechwarrior is NOT a F2P brand. It is a very old game with a multi-player option and a small hardcore following; like Neverwinter Nights for example. Now, if this game comes out and cannot run at BETTER then min. reqs. on Net cafe crap-box PCs then goodbye longevity. Take your 'just get a flux-capacitor HAL9000 for 100 quid' and consider the cost of doing that to 150 to 500 boxs in a gamer cafe in Moscow, Shanghai, Rio and a number of other places that non-paying server filler players come from. Add to that the kids whose parents won't change ANYTHING from stock on a computer because they don't understand it, then factor in the diminished disposable income in the U.S. and Euro-zone... if the game can't run BETTER THEN MINIMUM on a CRAP COMPUTER it will not fill it's servers.

Honestly the demo is a bit buggy (wierd glitches etc.) so I don't doubt that it's something absurdly wrong with my installed drivers as far as the 140+ framerate goes, but the crysis 2 numbers I have to stand by.
I only recently started playing that again after it was mentioned that they had fixed the "constantly rendering water under the street" bug and optimized the drivers for it, so it's rather fresh in my mind...
(Also, I hate that WEI only rates the drive you installed windows on darnit!
