The minimum specs are not high and fall in-line with every MMO that has been released over the last couple of years.

To the folks complaining about upgrades:

Most of us have known this was using cryengine 3 for 6 months now., maybe 8....

If that is the case, you have had plenty of time to stash a few bucks knowing the min specs would be higher than your current rig. I know I did. I just finished building my rig (hoping to play close to highest settings, but I think the 7770 will hold me back. It cost me $700, but I was upgrading completely from a machine that was 6+ years old.

Putting aside $200 for a vid card & processor upgrade over 8 months should have been doable, even on a student budget. If your budget is so tight you can's afford $25/month, I am sorry. I really am. It is never fun to be left behind. But as has been pointed out, you are not the target audience (removed).

Look at the numbers right now.

193 say they CAN play the game.

20 say they CANNOT.

So that is about 22 cannot play for every 200 that can. Totally acceptable I think. I would think in 2 years time 4 out of the 22 will replace their computer.

These numbers would not justify them spending the time and money on lowering the minimum specifications.

I disagree. Try about 2 years.

These minimum specifications were the minimum specifications for some games 2 years ago and they ran on the lowest graphics settings. To expect the same minimum specifications this far on is surprising.

I think they have done pretty good and done so for the sake it is an F2P game maybe.

Mine exceeds due to me buying a custom spec rig just so I would be ready to play this game 2 years ago. With 1.5 terrabyte HD and 12 Gig of ram expandable to 24 and an I7 2.66 ghz OC'd to 3.0. I am using dual video cards in X-fire 5270s. The cards are upgradeable along with the Pchip because of the motherboard I chose, It is able to plug in a high end I7. I also have a 1000watt powersupply and liquid cooling with 5 ultra quiet cooling fans. The drive I have is a CDRW/DVDRW/Blueray player from LG. The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster P2570HD 25" dual use TV/Monitor that we also use as our main TV when I am not online gaming. (MWLL, WOT,Rise of Flight and Star Trek online) When the original video rolled out I could only guess at the specs, so since I am disabled and on a fixed income, my wife gave me the PC as a gift since at the time we had extra cash and she was able to work. April 13th our doctor disabled her so us being able to make such expendatures is now out the window along with me getting the founders pack, I have also had to switch to FTP only for WOT and STO. However, I still look forward to the game when it is finally released although I will be hobbled by not being able to get the founders pack, I wish everyone here the best of luck and to have fun. As all here, I hope that this will be the MW game that we all have dreamed of since the original Mechwarrior/BT was released. The PC that I played the first MW game on was a Hyundai Super 16TE (before 286) yes I am an old fart lifer dog and one of the original Mechwarriors. :)

I can't see any issues with the specs and agree that the information regarding the game engine has been circulating for ages in fact when I first heard about the game last year the engine was mentioned in the article. You can't create a game that will look dated and clunky in this day and age just so that a few people with out dated machines can play. It makes no sense and the price of components now is frankly ridiculous if you can't save enough for a new GFX card and some other bits in 6 -8 months then you need to get your priorities straight as Sprouticus said. It may seem harsh but that's the reality and the rest of us shouldn't be held back because of the few who don't have a decent system.

It's the reason why I bought this laptop so I can play graphically intensive games whether I'm home or away with work, I don't just want a game to play well I also expect it to look good too. It's 2012!!!

Perfectly happy with the specs. It's good they are making MWO look impressive. It's a F2P so they plan to keep supporting it for many years. Instead of the P2P where they throw them aside every year. They wanted to release a good looking game now to save troubles in the future.

Besides, I want my option of "I destroy the recommended specs"

Just because the last Mechwarrior game was over a decade ago, doesnt mean the computers we are using to play this game should be almost as old. I am happy they are looking to stay competitive in the future with other top end products.

What cooling are you using for CPU, i have the same but i didn't OC it. I was thinking of buying Cooler Master hyper 212 or if you have something better to suggest

On the note of system req, only area I am lacking in is GPU, have ATI 4890...

I'm currently toying with a few fans. I've got a Thermaltake SpinQ, A Thermaltake Frio, and a Corsair H80. SpinQ has the lowest cooling power. So you would be good with the Frio if your budget is a bit tight.

Welcome to the CryENGINE. The latest CryENGINE. It makes PCs cry. Aptly named.

If you're a serious PC gamer, you will have the recommended. If you're not, you can get the minimum or probably near the recommended for the cost of any "new release" next gen console.

Really not a big deal, yo.

cryengine3, if you didn't think this game would be pushing the upper limited of PC specs when they announced that then you're not up to date on PC technology any more.

I can assure you that what were posted as MIn specs are really not .I would be surprised , no shocked if this game didnt run as well, no better than MWLL.
I have run mwll on a crappy dual core that maxed out around 2.7 ghz mated to a kinda crappy gpu , xp and 4 gig ram.
It worked.
It runs well on a e5200 oc to 3.5, a good gpu and xp.
cryengine is a tough mama cpu wise. but once a gain I cant believe its as bad as cryeng 1,2

I run under spec on a lot of games these days . . . on a laptop . . . on a Macbook! Most things work fine.

I think XP helps by not sucking all the power to run itself. Honestly, I run games well above this spec on 2.4 ghz, 4gig RAM, 8600GT, and things are . . . just fine . . . and we're talking flight sims here.

Do I have to crank the graphics down? Yes, quite a bit. Do I see frame rates under 60? Yes, yes I do. If I want to see highly realistic graphics, I look away from the computer.

Will I be able to run MW:O? I don't know, but probably it'll be just fine.

Will I buy a Founder's Pack? The Magic 8-Ball says "not at this time," but that's OK.

.
Yes, the sys specs are crazy. especially for min GPU:

GeForce 8800GT vs Radeon HD 5600/5700
= NVidea 2007 generation vs ATI 2009 generation

8800-series is 2 years older and weaker than 5700

so what ?

what about 4870 ?????

4870 is much much stronger than 8800GT !!!!

i can play Crysis1 & Crysis2 with my 4870 very well.

Nah, they aren't really crazy. Crysis3 ... now that is going to be nuts. Specially if you want to max it out (somehow).
MW:O is not even in the same league as far as 'killer games' are concerned. Really.

I'm concerned about this myself. I can play MWLL but I have to have everything set to minimum, and I'm worried that I won't be able to run MWO at a playable level.

I keep comforting myself with the thought that this is a free-to-play game so SURELY they'll try and tone things down so lower-spec computers can run it...

I think my machine is a pretty good baseline (as in it was cheap but it can run every F2P game I've thrown at it and even this past holiday's "AAA" games run well) for the "average" computer, and if I'm worried about being able to run it there are a lot of other people that are just gonna be screwed (my roommates, by way of example).

Nevermind the fact that they're asking people to give them sixty bucks TOMORROW when a lot of people still don't know if they'll be able to play it. I don't like the idea that I'm either 1) going to miss out on all the founder's benefits or 2) I'm gonna be screwed out of sixty bucks. I know the alternative is "just wait for the game to launch" but, silly though it may be, I want all the little founder's perks!

We need specs, or better yet point your RNG at the low-spec machines like mine that have signed up for closed beta. A LOT of your diehard BT/MW fans AREN'T diehard PC gamers, and alienating the people who've been directly responsible for keeping the IP alive for over a quarter-century isn't a great way to get your game going.

MWLL runs on Cryengine 2, which is notoriously unoptimised. It's why Crysis 1 can't run on consoles. Cryengine 3 is basically an optimised version of it. Doesn't look quite as good, but it runs much better.

Also, did you bother reading this? There are requirement specs at the bottom.
