Technically, not the right section, but guess what? None of the fan sections allow for Polls. So if a Mod would like to move it, much like they did for MonnUnitBeta's "Design A Marauder" Contest to the Fan Jumpship after, please do, as long as the polling stays open!!!

So was re-working my old Marauder re-design, when I decided to see what would happen if I made it into a MadCat.

So here is the Marauder

and here is the Timberwolf version

Which do you think it fits better? As a Third possibility, I thought about doing a quick mod to turn it into a Rakshasa.

Input and critiques welcome. I could see the Rak being the easiest, since TBH, I can't remember anyone clamoring for it as their favorite, but, I am quite proud of my machine guns. And I think the Mad cockpit is pretty good. So, since I can't be objective....... help?

Tough choice... never heard of the Rak before this......
But it seems to do them all equally well. :P
Can I vote D : all of the above?

I like the cowl over the Marauder's cockpit better than the bare canopy on the MadCat and Rakshasa. Between the Cat and the Rak, I have to go with the Rak; the Cat's torso mounted support guns look haphazardly attached and give the "chin" area too busy a feel.

the Rakshasa is a 3055 era Davion attempt to mimic the Timberwolf. Not an OmniMech, and obviously, it's a pale imitation, but it does mount 2 ERLLasers, 2 MLasers, 1 MPlaser and 2 ALRM10. It is pretty much a match in speed, armor and heat capacity to the T-Wolf prime.

the semi haphazard attachment is intentional. I felt that it needed the "chin gun" to be essentially on a turret like an Apache Longbow to make it really effective for anti infantry. And well, the TWolf does have an exposed canopy. Anyhow, do appreciate the input!

Yeah I Googled it for Sarna before I commented. :P
But as that was the first I had heard of it, I cannot comment much on it.

The cockpit is just a bit too square for me to see it as a Timberwolf, it just stands out and bugs when I look at it. But I can't see it as a Marauder after seeing it as a Timberwolf, because the arms and torso just scream Timberwolf to me; what has been seen cannot be unseen.

Now as for a Davion knock-off? Oh yeah, I'm loving it!

I though about putting an angled pane about half way up the front glass, but decided pretty much too many people have done the Apache Longbow canopy on mechs, figure I would try something a little different. Calculated risk, which admittedly won't fly for all! That is actually what made me think Rakshasa, TBH.

Might mod the canopy some, but IDK.

Eh, I long for the day someone finally tinkles in their bloody cheerios! I love Robotech as much as any kid from my generation, but HG is a bunch off assnazis, IMO.

Voted Marauder, because there simply isn't a more epic Mech.

i'd say you've changed a squat-ish marauder into the Rak

the timberwolf has a lot more of it's componants spreadout, the proportions of your design are tall and squat like the rakshasa.

I am also a huge fan of the marauder, with ECM it could be timberwolf-bane...

I went Marauder. To me it feels like what a Marauder SHOULD look like. Mildly alien (cockpit shroud does it) but dangerous, like it's meant for stalking things.

Beats the hell out of the old spindly Macross design imho.

*Dons flame-proof suit and grabs fire extinguisher*

Whatever it ends up being, if I bumped into that on the battlefield, I'd run away bravely.

componants-squat

total stance of all anatomy put together makes it tall.

I voted Rakshasa - I happen to find Clan-inspired IS mechs interesting, stuff like the Avatar and Black Hawk Ku.

I also noticed you put the MGs in the correct locations on the TWolf pic Bishop, good stuff :P

I dunno what to vote, to be honest, but I know this: Your Mad Cat, pardon, Timber Wolf has the big advantage that it does't have this ugly boxy thing that one of its common depictions has:
