Catapults are confusing people since they started to breed with Marauders, no one can tell for sure what they see ever since. :P
My vote is for Marauder, since we don't have Cat - they one of two genuine mech witch produced this mess.

I voted Rakshasa - I happen to find Clan-inspired IS mechs interesting, stuff like the Avatar and Black Hawk Ku.

I also noticed you put the MGs in the correct locations on the TWolf pic Bishop, good stuff

I really am OCD about those details, usually, lol.

Hmmnm.

I wonder if this Poll is trending like it is because it works better as a Marauder, or because people are actually overall more attached to the TWolf, and so less into interpretation?

I went for Timber Wolf, its an interesting take on the Clanners favourite, one I wouldn't mind seeing in-game.

Combine that with the massive wish for the Marauder that the Phoenix package generated, I would be surprised if it went any other way.

The old Rak needs a facelift no matter how much I love it. And if it used a GM Marauder Special chassis what went horribly, horribly wrong with the arms on the original art?

Edit1: Just a thought on the Rakshasa. The three foremost panels of the cockpit and the one little tooth like panel could probably be changed to armor without too much cost in visibility. That would also bring it more in line with Timber Wolf it attempts to imitate.

Edit2: That little thing on the canopy fill it in on the T-Wolf or Rak. :D

imho, they look way too much like each other to me, like your timber wolf and rakshasa are advanced tech versions/variants of your Marauder. There isn't anything in the new pics that makes them stand out as unique battlemechs.

kinda the point. I'm not trying to make 3 mechs, trying to decide which one of the 3 to make the finish product. kinda thought that was apparent by the poll.

I voted Rakshasa. Gives you freedom away from the multitudes of Marauder and Mad Cat love flying around.

Can you tilt the missile pods back a bit? It doesn't really make sense for LRM tubes to point forward when apparently they need to arc when they are launched. Also I personally preferred the missile bays without doors (i think the MWO catapult concept art had versions of that), but that's just me.

looks really good though.

A bit sad the Marauder is winning. The Rakshasa really needs the love you've given it.

I would say more Marauder, but the scale, just a bit larger than the man.

not sure what you mean by the scale. It's accurate by CGL TT stats, at just under 13 meters.

looking like it will be a Marauder then!!!! /Though I do really like it as the Rak, also. Might have to modify the current Rak version to give them some visual seperation

I was very much a fan of your old Marauder design (voted!) and it reminded me of Dog from Half-Life 2 mainly because of the cockpit design. Very cool!

No, no it wont.

Because, you see they aren't dumb enough to get sued.

Oddly enough, while apparently designed behind Davion doors, Sarna lists the Rakshasa as a mech built uniquely by Lyran manufacturers.

The Rakshasa is produced by GM on Kathil, which has been a major 'Mech producing world for the Federated Suns since before the fall of the Star League. It is listed under the Lyran Commonwealth 'Mechs, because before the succession of the Lyran Alliance most of the Rakshasas produced were earmarked for units stationed on the clan border. This placed the vast majority of Rakshasas in service with LyrCom units.

As a rule of thumb, units stationed on the Clan border got priority on almost any new 'Mech or variant produced in FedCom space between 3051 and 3057.
