Now after much testing and wasting very hard earned c bills. It seems to me that quite frankly keeping an atlas very basic is the way to go for me, Now quite often in matches I'll score over 1300 in damage and sometimes kill up to six or seven mechs. I lug around 4 medium lasers an A/C 20, and 2 Srms 6's. its not every match but I am very successful in doing some serious hell unless I am ganked by 4 or more mechs which is my own fault.
Now people will look at my mech and scrutinize it for not having an artemis missile system and I should give up my engine for it or a heatsink and maybe even put in an antimissile system and I will say no to these. Why? Because I'm a brawler I fight in close quarters. and honestly hills or buildings seem to stop missiles from hitting me because I use my surroundings. I creep around corners and buildings and ambush my enemies and kill them. If I'm out in the open I better be using an enemy mech as a meat shield or have a ally ecm with me. Now Here is my loadout that has worked wonders for me and if you wish to suggest anything or ask how I play this mech feel free. and keep in mind you are only as good as your teammates.

I will also add I do not believe an atlas should go long range. Because you are the biggest dam thing on the map, easy as hell to spot and you will not be able to get in and out of cover like medium or heavy snipers do. Your an Atlas you have a scary looking face for a reason, for when you run up to a mech and make him **** his pants as he dies. I wont even put Lrms on an atlas. There are stalkers for a reason.

Which is great for standing back about 500 m from a chokepoint or a rush and holding it with dakka. If you are all shortrange, then it's hard to fill that role. Not saying that this is better than a brawler, but it's a valid alternative that can be very useful to a team.

For a brawler mech there are some rules friend:
1) Brawler must have good heat efficiency - it need maximum heatsinks(he can't run from fight like a light mech, or take cover like long range sniper)
2) Brawler must have good aiming weapon (even at 100m SRM6 without Artemis has a good chance to miss about 1-2 missiles at target. Standart SRM has no chances to hit in one location even 2-3 missiles)
3) Speed isn't №1 priority for Brawler (if you can't come in close combat at 61km/h you will not have chances at 64km/h)
4) Brawler Atlas is №1 target at battlefield & have really little chances to make many shots (he will die or kill all enemies)

I ran something similar when I ran the D and on my DDC. I'd worry about no AMS, and your rear armor is a little light for my taste (I find 14/16 has me in a good sweet spot where I can take enough damage to lose a rear spot, but don't die from the rear unless I'm surrounded), but if it works, more power too you.
The other suggestion would be to put in CASE in the LT, and move most (not all) of your ammo there. Keep 1-2 tons of AC20 ammo in that leg, so if you lose your LT, you can still fire the AC20 on the RT.

This thing is plenty cool. Has some range. Speed is ok. Dual ams. Can lay down some power up close. + its a rarely used variant, which I think makes it a little edgier.
