Are there any Mechs at all that can be purchased without needing MC?
There certainly used to be or was that just for the Beta and now everything requires MC?

Only the Hero mechs require MC. Everything else has a Cbill cost.
Now.. granted, if you've filled your original four slots (I'm assuming you haven't), then you need MC to purchase more mechbays, yes.

Only Hero, and Champion Mech's require MC. Maybe a couple other "special" rigs. But all others can be purchased with in game C-Bills . Run 25 matches in Trial Mech's, and save all of it, then build a rig you like. After the first 25 matches, your earning will drop in a very large way, when your - cadet - bonus drops off.

In the Mechlab, the first mechs you see are the MC purchase-able mechs. If you select one of the tabs for the weight-class you desire you can see many more mechs. I believe that again you will see MC mechs first, but most of the mechs available can be purchased with C-bills.

You can choose to pay for a mech with either MC or Cbills, was confused by that the first time i went to buy a mech as well since i thought you needed BOTH MC+Cbills values to purchase a mech.

QFT.
The dual cBills and MC listed for most mechs is not "you have to pay both", it's an "either/or" option.

This is very common, only reason I knew better was I had seen this question asked on the forums prior to trying to buy a mech.

Thanks, this is the answer I was looking for. For some reason I wasn't thinking that way but should have been!! I saw MC only mechs then MC + what looked like CBills required too, so I was looking for CBill only ones. Makes perfect sense now.
I'm back in business. I have tons of CBills that I can use to get something decent.
