While I agree that UI 2.0 needs to hurry up and get finished so we can move on, it sounds like it is one of those things that simply had to happen according to http://mwomercs.com/...history-lesson/. As it stands, the current UI is the real problem and the real hold up. Like everything else, it appears to have been a [placeholder] UI which had issues from the beginning.

Can someone explain what the meaning of this is technically? Is it a waste to do this, and/or a reason not to do this?

You get 4 (?) medallions as an Overlord. You can pick any 4 or the same one 4 times. You'd want to pick several different ones if you want to have the flexibility of getting the loyalty boost with different houses. You'd pick all the same ones if you know you only want a loyalty boost with one house and you want the convenience of being able to equip them in 4 different mechs so you don't have to constantly find and swap them out anytime you want to take another mech for a ride.

Not only convenience but presumably in the rumored dropship mode where you preconfigure and select 4 mechs for an extended campaign drop... having 4 medallions of all the same faction would allow you to gain faction loyalty boost across all 4 mechs. Obviously all the above is more or less speculation or guessing on how anything relating to loyalty points or dropship mode works.

I picked 4 different ones (basically anything medallion that wasn't FedCom related) for use as a Mercenary group. I may regret that decision later but I assume more medallions can be purchased for MC at some point but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the info. Would have been better to tell us the day we were supposed to get the badge, but 40 days later is cool too.

To all the people scratching their heads about why this is such a big deal to some players: obviously, those players feel it's "adding insult to injury" at this point. As weeks go by without CW and UI 2.0, every small detail is increasingly annoying to those who are on the verge of quitting.

Me, I honestly don't care about this stuff. And I don't care too much about UI 2.0 either. I'm more concerned about keeping the game alive with new game modes and new maps. All the other stuff is just spice and cosmetics. Give me team deathmatch, give me asymmetrical game modes, give me new maps, and give me role warfare, if you want more money from me.

Just spent $175 on Star Citizen, by the way. The guys at CIG really know how to build a community and keep a good dialogue with the fans, IMO.

i wonder if pgi knows how many people it will lose when star citizen comes out.... they could learn something from RSI

hmm well it dose explaine a lot,and the fact that UI2.0 is being pushed now as opposed to sat on the back shelf is good. The way i look at it the quicker it's done the quicker the fixes for it are done XD

It occurred to me a few days ago that the UI 2.0 rewrite has a parallel with what, for example, Netscape did years ago. They decided to rewrite from scratch and watched as Microsoft stole their market share as the stopped progressing their current version. PGI are doing the same thing with UI 2.0. It appears to be actually holding up development elsewhere and preventing this game from progressing, and it's almost December now. The big rewrite decision may have been a mistake. Perhaps evolving the current UI whilst adding new features to it would have been a better decision that would not have contributed towards a stagnated game. It's nearly December and instead of seeing progress on Community Warfare we still don't have the UI 2.0 that most players probably don't even care about beyond the fact we just want it done and out of the way so that we can see REAL features come down the pipeline that push the MWO experience forward.

It could be that the UI wasn't meant to be as permanent as it did and now is getting to the point where its a complete trainwreck.
Sometimes starting from a scratch when you seen how the domain should be is a good idea, although this has happend way to late in the process and should have been started a long time ago, which for me gives the smell that the management/programmers are either being dishonest to themselves or each other about their capabilities/vision.

I would assume that much of the content that relies on UI2 is also being progressed. It could be (rose tinted specs on) that once that is in place, we could get other content faiirly quickly.
New content, even if buggy, would be great.

Bronze is the "starter" medallion. It is highly likely that you can gain higher versions (silver, gold, maybe even platinum) as you increase in reputation with the respective faction. It would be great to get details from the horses mouth, but that is the logical explanation, at least.

My logical explanation is that they will sell silver and gold medals via MC.

Yeah.... I think I'll be treating MWO like TF2 from here on out. I bought my PP and don't think I'll be buying anything else until there is something worth while to buy (which seems unlikely, for me at least, because the prices per mech are ridiculous and I've killed too many monsters that only differed with a different skin colour to place any value in paint).

I'll dip into this from time to time and look in on it when a big patch goes out. But for me, there is nothing beyond the pug battles as I don't have time for anything else.

It's a solid game. No doubt about that. And treating it like TF2 is not a bad thing, I've sunk nearly 500 hours according to steam into TF2. But god knows there's only so many times you can play 2fort (or Terra Therma) before your brain starts to melt.

Mark your calendars ... or hmm, uhh... imagine marking your calendars with the date when they finally announce one. I'm pretty sure UI 2.0 release is going to be as epic as launch!

Semi-related question, since it's a Phoenix mech, but I Mastered my Battlemaster over the weekend (hahahaa), but it remained at two module slots. Problem?

Restart client, should fix. Sometimes it just doesn't update right away.

I like your sense of humour. :)

I kinda agree. Would have liked to switch one (FRR to Kurita) but I am still good with it. Picked Davion, Steiner, FRR, Marik. I don't see why they can't switch it on their end with account tools.
