after playing 20 matches that all ended Ina loss with 0-3 kills to 12, I think the elo mechanic may be the most worthless piece of code in the game. The lack of balanced fights has been worse with the 12 v 12.

I would prefer an elo option where it doesn't drop {Scrap} groups, I would rather get no match then the steaming piles of dung it has been dropping.

My favorite is when the other team gets mad that they lost to cap and you hit the score screen and it looks like:

ATLAS - ATLAS - ATLAS - HIGHLANDER - BATTLEMASTER, etc. while your team looks like THUNDERBOLT, LOCUST, AWESOME, LOCUST, LOCUST..

One thing schould be mentioned:
If you loose 3 Mechs, the enemy team has the opportunity to "snowball", wich leads to stomps.

There is no MM in any Game that could prevent this. ;)

But i think the main piont here is the same as in most of such threads. Elo-rating.
I think we can all agree, that a player with 25 games shouldnt face experienced/ maxed-out players.

I guess im at Elo : 1300
So an newbe is facing my leveld and maxed-out Atlas. (Atlas ;) )

FFS, educate yourself. Elo does not make the matches, the MM does. Elo is just a scoring system the MM uses, and it does so poorly.

Even with the relatively crappy implementation of Elo (team-based and having a single score for solo and premade), it would still be a reasonably decent system if they'd simply adjust the MM to restrict the max Elo range within a given match. It's the MM that drops noobs in trial mechs in the same matches as some of the top-rated players in the game. Not the scoring system.

I am of a different school as you I guess. I figure we should face all players! PEEF an Khobai In a drop against or with me would probably be humbling, but that wouldn't stop me from learning a thing or two, and then someday start sneaking a kill or two against them.

Facing better opponents makes you a better player, whether you know it or not.

So the MM is using Elo-ratings to create games? So Elo remains a signifficant part for the MM.
You insist to getting long waiting times for matchmaking while the problem remains that new players start in an average level?
To limit the Elo-score-rating for creating an match wouldt solve the problem that a new player is thrown against experienced players. ;)

I dont know my real rating so i cant asume im to good to be matched with beginners.

I dont think i understand what want to say. im sorry for that. :)

Elo ratings are all skewed due to poor MatchMaking resulting in inaccurate Elo, resulting in Roadbeer threads, resulting in forum tears that powers the inner workings of the MatchMaker.

Result = We all use the same Meh Matchmaker, so at least we are all in this together!

I get your piont.
But lets face it. If you get knocked out so quickly you cant lern from it, it will just become frustrating for some players. :D
(And i´ve seen the "Lord`s" in my team some days ago......i dont think you could lern something if you get oblitterated. :) )

My piont is that beginners are thrown against veterans to quickly.
Most will quit. There are plenty of games out, where you could achive some satisfaction without being deep in the mechanics.
(i dont have an problem to get beaten....i play Dark Souls and enjoying it ;) )

Actually, the most worthless piece of code in the game is Hit Detection/Host State Rewind. ELO is close though ;P

Completly redondant, plus this thread is just rage because you lost 3 matchs, big deal. MM is not working well at all we all know it.

If you are the first one dead, in that many matches you should take a hint...

QUIT RUNNING OUT AHEAD OF YOUR TEAMMATES!!!!!

I love it when I see all the lights rushing to get into a fight with each other first, because it's fun to walk up and swat them down. then at the end of a match, when you need a fast light... the other team doesn't have any. Scout does not mean, run ahead and try and hit the biggest mechs a few times... look ahead, report back, TAG if it's safe, wait till they are hurt, then hit and run.

If you can lose 20 in a row, it's not who you are being put in matches with, it's you.

Bold faced lie. Losing 20 in a row IS the teams fault. Unless a player is killing 12 all alone, he is not the only reason the team lost.

But what i noticed: focusfire, good aim, and piniont DMG

I would rather the MM balance by total mech weight then ELO. To me that seems to matter much more.

When it does I'll be sad. Being on the downside of a weight mismatch is exciting to me!
