A reminder: That build also runs on the Cbill Highlander.

stalkers are a mixed bag. my first ever mech was a 4N. for me it was perfect, because stalkers are slow enough to give you some time to think about what to do next (that's what a newbie does mainly), can take some damage before falling apart and carry enough weapons to score you a lucky kill or two to keep you going on. but that was before ghost heat. i would still recommend a stalker to a newbie but one should give a smaller and more agile mech a go as well. if you use the all the nice energy hardpoints a stalker offers like a newbie would do, you will heat up pretty fast. fighting in a hot mech is not something a beginner will be able to handle well most times (in brawls). so you would have to have the right (cool) loadout for that newbie stalker... but finding the right loadout also is something for advanced players.
so, find a cool and flexible loadout other players recommend (something that keeps you going in all map types, short/medium or maybe long-range) and give it a try. I would recommend the 3F (greater torso twist) or the 5M if you like missiles.
