This Spider-5K is the single most annoying 'mech in the game, and it's loads of fun to run. You will do very little damage, and to be useful in any capacity, you really need to flame enemies' cockpits to blind them while they're fighting your allies.

Ah FUN my favorite topic! I really like my Illya 3 AC10 build. If you do it right its actually good but 3 AC10s firing at the same time is loud as hell! Not to mention the sound of all 3 making that epic reload sound.

Another fun mech I use is a reven 3L with 2 SRM6, and 2 Medium lasers. Use the SRM6 in our narc tube like a close quarters full auto AC2 and you will have a blast.

And lastly... use just about any commando and your face will hurt from smiling, as you matrix your way across the battlefield.

Locusts have a very similar feel, they turn even better than Commando do.

My nine medium laser Hunchback 4P is the most fun I've ever had in this game.

hmmm.... that's the build I'm grinding through right now to elite my other hunchs. boring. Annoying. Don't like it.

I really have a lot of fun using my 3x ML 2x AC10 K2. I get to snipe, move, brawl, everything. It's not my best Mech, but I love when I pick off a shoulder while going 80 KPH ^_^

I've got a k2 with an AC/20 on one torso and PPC on the other. ML in the arms, MPL in torso with the AC/20. It's LOTs of fun, and diverse.
It's "alternate" build is dual AC/5.
Probably more effective with 2 ERLL in arms... but just not as much fun. I bought the Jester cause I liked it, but had to switch up the K2, which inspired the ballistics. I did spectate a dual AC20 K2 once.... his was SLOW... not sure what motor he was running. NO other weapons.

I also have a C4 with 2 MLs, 1 LRM10, 1 LRM15, and 2 LRM5. Basically, an alfa LRM shot, then staggers itself. Fairly screwed once you get up close, so have to play carefully.

Also, the Ziggy Pig (3x ML 3x UAC5) Ilya Muromets is just hilarious fun. I often do 300+ damage in a bad match, but only lived for 30 seconds of combat. It just SPITS out damage. My record of components destroyed in a match was my Ziggy with 11 - and I only had 2 kills, haha.

Garth! I just wanted to say thank you very much for coming into this thread to participate with a community discussion. It helps to build our confidence you know.

In a Locust? You never have that illusion. Every shot you survive is "HAHAHAHAHAA HOW DID I SURVIVE THAT??" and then you run like crazy.

I have to agree, this is the honest truth. I've played Catapults, Ravens and Centurions before I started on my Locusts, and the Locusts are the most fun by far. The 1V is meh because the 4 ballistic slots just aren't that useful, but the 3S loaded with Streaks is just stupid fun, especially when you can catch a slow assault in one on one and you can just dance around him dumping missiles. The 3M isn't bad either, but I do tend to prefer Streaks over lasers when running around at top speed.

Full energy support, PPC for big slow targets, LLaz for smaller fast moving target, MLaz for point defend.

Blackjack 1DC
2x AC/2
4x SLaz
XL 235
12 DHS

Long range splinging and direct fire support, SLaz for point defend and mop up in late game.

Hunchback 4J
2x A.LRM10
1x ERLLaz
1x TAG
BAP
XL 275
10 DHS

light mech: my 2x LRM5 locust. Its just fun and crazy to run around dropping lrms on everyone at 170kph.
Medium mech: my 4xssrm2 1 LLas shadowhawk
heavy: JESTER, I find it a fun fast mech to play.
Assualt: Misery. its slow but tough and fun, besides it has a ballistic hardpoint which can sometimes catch people off guard when they see you.

I love my HBK-4G.. though i do suffer from Hump-loss syndrome, ir is a really fun mech. I have played with weird combos, from AC-20, 3 ML, to AC-20, 2 MPL, ac-20/dual machine guns, and small lasters. All are a total hoot...

Twin Gauss CTF4X. Utterly stupid but it makes me smile. Silly HBK builds make me grin too.

I need Mechs that can carry 3 different weapon types and go fast enough to be mobile warfare capable (>95kph).
The Centurion and SHD fit that role and i played also a Cicada 3M quite a while (ERLL(exPPC), 3xML, MG).

Commando 2D: You feel like a P-51 on escort duty when tailing an enemy Jenner through a formation of friendly assaults.

I love to take mechs that are considered less than great and pilot them. Kills my KDR but that is fun for me.

Currently I am using a dragon-1C with an ac/10 and 4 meds

If I don't have fun with a mech, I don't keep it in my hangar. These are my current mechs:

HGN-733P: AC20 + 2 PPC
40 alpha, not quite as lame feeling as playing the poptart gauss build, you can't exactly brawl but you can alpha like a champ without overheating the hell out of yourself. Probably my least played of all mechs, but I still have fun taking it out once in awhile.

JR7-F: 6 Medium Laser
30 alpha and great sustained DPS, solid heat management, high speed, there's nothing to not love about the Jenner-F (other than its horrible core hitbox, but it's mitigated by the fact that you're a light and you have tiny torsos)

CPLT-K2: 2 ER Large Laser + 2 AC5
One of the gold standard sustained DPS builds, probably my most successful mech overall. You can run the biggest XL possible with these weapons and not sacrifice armor. I've had a lot of 1k+ damage games in this. You can run the same build in a Jagermech or a Cataphract, I just like using the Catapult because it looks cooler.

AS7-D-DC: 1 ER Large Laser + 2LBX 10 + 3 SRM6+Artemis
Brawls like a champ and has a long range weapon to reach out and touch people with while advancing to SRM range.

BJ-1X: 6 Medium Laser + 2 ER Large Laser
It's like a giant Jenner that can hit people at long range, runs really fast and has a hilarious/creepy walking animation. It's not nearly as heat efficient but when you alpha people I'm pretty sure the lasers can be seen from space (and 38 alpha is nothing to sneeze at, especially from a mech that goes almost 120 when speed tweaked). Kinda wish it had some jumpjets, but the speed helps make up for the loss.

QKD-5K: 3 PPC
I have no clue why people **** on this mech on the forums so much, the Quickdraw is a very neat chassis, sure it's very large for its tonnage but it has excellent hitboxes for using an XL (and with one, it can go over 100km/h), giant arms to use as shields, giant leg hitboxes and jumpjets. It's the most durable heavy I've ever played (I've also used Cataphracts and Jagermechs before but have sold them for not being cool enough) because it's so easy to spread damage and the core/torsos are so small. 3 PPC gives it an instant 30 alpha from range, you can chain fire, poptart, or use your speed to flank with ECM support.

STK-M: 4 Large Laser + AC20
Laser stalkers are cool, slap an AC20 on one and you've made it doubly cool. Really good at dealing sustained damage and taking a lot of punishment. People moan about how easily you lose your torsos, but as a Catapult pilot, let me say, it's better to lose a torso and be walking around at 40% health than it is to get cored at 60% because you have a giant core hitbox. The Misery also has room for a large laser in its core, which lets you zombie it up if you find yourself losing your arms (as is prone to happening on stalkers). I usually don't die until I'm below 30% on this mech.

Some other builds I'd like to try:

BLR-1D: 4 Large Pulse Lasers + 2 Machineguns
RVN-3L: either 2 ER Large Laser or 1 ER Large Laser + 2 Medium Laser + 2 Streak SRM.

I've enjoyed your recent burst of forum activity, Garth. I'm still fairly new (July), and seeing a staff member hobnobbing is most welcome. (The fact that you share my love of Cicadas helps, too...)

I believe you share his love for Cicaidas, he is like the Chuck Norris of MWO... ;)

But more on topic

My Victor: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1700dc78478998d
Fast(ish), heavy punch up close but not at a complete loss when someone is down range.

Battlemaster: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...742e99a4c67f649
Fast(ish), way too much ammo, but i always have a blast with my shotgun and lots of Wub wub

Also my Dragon 1C: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0b164aa90d8568c
I usually do terrible, but going fast with a shotgun, shotgun missiles and then my green scalpel lasers is just alot of fun.

Well, he asked for your most fun mech, not best build mech. I don't run this unless I'm in just the right "unserious" state of mind. Its a Jager-DD with 6 AC2's. Config it as 2 groups. 3 left side AC's and 3 right side AC's. If you fire all 6 continuously you'll lay down some heavy damage (23.1 DPS), but you will also overheat in less than 4 seconds. Played judiciously it can be a lot of fun. JM6-DD
