8400Gs Will It Run Mwo?

The rest of his system is:
CPU: i3-2100
RAM: 2GB of generic memory
Its not a fantastic machine but if it will run MWO as it is now what sort of frame rate would he get lowest resolution.
Thanks in advance and best regards, Zink1701.

That system will not run MW:O well. And by that, I mean it will likely be a slideshow.

bad news for your mate: it wont run! i have a laptop with similar specs around and there is no chance to get MWO running on this machine... sry.
the processor would be strong enough but the 2 GB ram is alredy short. MWO needs in combat at least 2GB for themself. Now you have to add your OS and other background-apps, so you see no chance.
The nvidia 8400gs is way too slow for MWO. Sadly MWO is not very good optimized on graphic issues. Lot of people with very expensive gpu experience very low fps in MWO.
If your friend would start playing MWO with that system on low specs he would get maybe fps around 10! At the brawl below that...
just take a look at ebay and buy additional 2 GB RAM and maybe a used Nvidia 650 or 580... would not cost much and it would be playable with med or high graphics around 30 fps.

As others have stated, an upgrade from the base up is in order for that PC. Id also like to add, that the game is also not well optimized for dual core CPUs either.

so just upgrade the graphic and the RAM and youre fine for another one or two years.

Sell your machine and let the guys around here build you a new one

You will also want to put in a minimum of 2GB more RAM, bringing him up to 4GB. 8GB is better but with current prices that's a bit steep.
I recently picked up a Radeon HD 6670 cheap off eBay and it's performing decently well. Not as good as a nVidia card would have, but this was an accidental purchase while hunting down a nVidia card.

Please tell me why a nVidia would automaticaly performe better?
There are Cards out there (GT640,GT650) from nVidia that trick customers into buying a 70€ card and these cards are nooot good.
Also:
All Reference Cards are loud and mostly not worth their money.
The world is not Black and White!
Please always remember that when buying new hardware.
Google for tests and benchmarks and you will see that AMD GPUs are sometimes better, sometimes worse than nVidia cards and vice-versa.
Please dont tell beginners this voodoo stuff, that nVidia is always better.
On-Topic:
I dont think that it would be a good idea to upgrade.
OP said that the guy has a very cheap machine and you all know what that means:
- Cheap Motherboard
- Ultra Cheap PSU
- Cheap and slow HDD
- No SSD
- Loud Fans and a ****** case.
Keep your CPU and sell the rest, then get this:
Mainboard:
ASRock B85M Pro4
_Alternative: Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3 oder MSI B85-G43
RAM:
4GB G.Skill 1333MHz CL9
_Alternative: 4GB G.Skill 1600MHz CL9 oder 8GB G.Skill 1333MHz CL9
GPU:
GTX 650 Ti Boost
_Alternative: R7 260X
PSU:
be quiet! System Power 7 400W
_Alternative: Cooler Master G450M 450W oder Cougar A400 400W
HDD:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1000GB
_Alternative: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
Optical Drive:
LG GH24NS95
_Alternative: Samsung SH-224DB
Case:
Xigmatek Asgard 381
_Alternative: Cooler Master N400 oder Sharkoon VS3-V
That would be around 380€ which is 520$ if you buy the parts new, but I dont know about the hardware prices in the States, so it could be much lower.
If you buy the parts used, you save a lot of money, but please take care of quality!

Check out Vulpes' build guides in this forum if you're looking to set him up on the cheap. It's not as cost prohibitive as many people seem to think.

Because the Nvidia logo is on the MwO startup splash screen.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm on your side, and I run an xfx 7950. Does not change the fact that, sponsored by Nvidia, MwO will [at least probably--EVENTUALLY] be optimized for nvidia cards.
I say probably eventually because at this point we may not see any kind of performance optimization until 3079

MWO is sponsored but not optimized for MWO, check their HP
Ah and guys please dont get me wrong, I'm open for every piece of hardware. But AMDs GPUs (other tthan their CPUs which are not so good) are getting way too less attetion. They deliver great performance and OC-Potential for little money (atleast sometimes).
I agree that the functionality in terms of goodies and things like CUDA or SLI are better on an nVidia, but you are paying more.

They're in a co-marketing arrangement. That doesn't mean the game will take better to Nvidia's hardware. In fact, right now MWO hates Nvidia, and users with their cards come onto these forums with issues about five times as often as users with AMD cards, usually with issues that aren't hardware-performance related, so MWO isn't even taking well to Nvidia's supposedly-superior drivers.

Yeah, I mean, both companies have games that dislike their cards. For AMD it was Skyrim for a good while, in which even single GPUs suffered horrible microstutter.
I think the bottom line, for MWO and everything else, is that there is and always will be only two metrics that matter for GPUs: Performance/$, and total performance, in that order of priority. Yes, SLI is slightly better than Crossfire still on multimonitor, while AMD has Mantle support, so there are little things that might provide small benefits either way, if not long-lasting ones (AMD's fast fixing Crossfire, and Mantle is potentially going to appear on later Nvidia GPUs), but for the most part, it's all about the raw performance you get for your money, and little to nothing else.
